the consensus is that it's underwhelming...it's barely "rotten" on the rotten tomatoes site... even the positive reviews are saying it's a safe movie that's more of a 'greatest hits' on screen rather than delving into Biggie's personality & character

It takes 60% to be "fresh" It's got a 51%

I tend to agree with a lot of them...

honestly, though, most biographies, docudramas are paint-by-numbers. They simplify everything chronologically, they have the old 'TV Movie of the Week' feel to them...it's a limitation of sticking to a true story...

For example, I enjoyed 'Cadillac Records', mainly because of Jeffrey Wright's performance and the music, but would I give it a positive review if that was my job? Probably not...

Jamie Foxx was good in 'Ray'. The movie 'Ray' wasn't good.

The list goes on...There are some good biographies of course, but I'd say more bad than good. I'll definitely give the movie a shot, but when it's exec produced by Puffy and Biggie's Mama, and they do more with music than digging into 'behind the man', I can see why it's getting some thumbs down...

I saw the movie. I thought it was great, not sure what more people could have wanted.

I'd give it 4/5. Its what you'd expect, I thought the acting was really good. The guy that played Biggie, did a great job. I don't think anyone could have done better.

The movie kind of leaves you with a sad feeling though. You just stop to realize how senseless the whole east vs. west thing was. It wasn't worth anyones life, its terrible. I feel bad for Biggie's mom and family. Also Tupac and his family. RIP to both.

I would also recommend this movie to anyone who is a fan of biggie or hip-hop.

just got back from watching it.... i loved it. gravy was great as big, i did think they could have maybe delved a little deeper into biggies home life but overall i thought it was a good movie... one complaint, dude who played pac didnt show the type of enthusiasm or charisma that pac displayed.
