View Full Version : Alistair Overeem to the UFC?
jakkups 01-18-2009, 02:35 PM Watch Dana's Blog, from 6:10 onwards and 8:10 onwards. He talks to Alistair and Semmy Schilt about their fights and possible fights with the UFC. Semmy not so sure, but Alistair seems intrigued.

Hey, you never know? And if it did happen. . . Man oh man would that be exciting.
YUHHHHHHH! 01-18-2009, 06:39 PM Oh my God, Alistair Overeem and Semmy Schilt (again) in the cage! These guys will turn the Heavyweight division UPSIDE DOWN. Overeem at Heavyweight is a serious force and I found that a little funny when he said "Not as big as Brock, I wouldn't want to be that big!" That guy is Brock Lesnar with more experience and with much more powerful, accurate and dynamic striking. Schilt goes without saying, if anything he throws at you connects, good night.
Seriously, I am excited just thinking about this.
StillUnknown 01-18-2009, 08:17 PM overeem has to cycle of those roids first. lol
seriously though, i hope he makes it to the ufc. since the move to HW, Overeem has looked like a dominant force

I would be shocked if he wasn't on something now
I dont think Shilt would matter, he usually always loses to top tier heavyweights, Overeem tho can be a problem although I dont care wat people say, the man is on juice. I kno he had to cut weight heavy to get to 205, but he's over 250 pounds of muscle now fighting in Japan, he's on juice. I'd still love to see him knock some heads off in Affliction or UFC

Overeem, Schilt in talks with Zuffa
Golden Glory manager Bas Boon and his fighters Alistair Overeem and Semmy Schilt were on hand in Dublin to discuss a possible jump from K-1/Dream to the UFC. After his stellar performances in 2008, Overeem in particular would be a welcome addition to a heavyweight division that could improve. The “Demolition Man” still has two fights left on his contract with Dream; he will either have to complete the contract or Zuffa will have to negotiate with Dream parent company Fighting & Entertainment Group if it wants to acquire the services of the 6-foot-5 kickboxer earlier.
Both Schilt and Overeem would obviously have the biggest value when used in continental European shows like the one coming up in Germany in June. With less than five months to go, Zuffa may have to either pay a transfer fee for the rights to both fighters or possibly exchange some talent that the Japanese may be interested in like Yoshiro Maeda, Rani Yahya and Yoshiyuki Yoshida. Schilt has fallen out of favor with FEG anyway, so it’s likely that the company would let him leave under the right circumstances.
Who would you match Overeem with? I'd start him off with Chieck Kongo and give Herring to Shcilt

Kongo's a good one for either of them IMO. I'd like to see either of them guy up against Hardonk just because they're from rival camps. Plus it would be great if they went toe to toe.
ScottDBA 01-20-2009, 12:40 AM Semmy will have a hard time making 265. I think he was like 290 for his last fight in K1, and he's never had to cut weight before so it would be rough. Still like to see him back in UFC.
Overeem would be awesome. Him and Sergei Kharitonov are two available guys that would make great addition to UFC heavyweight division.

The guy walked around at 240+ in between fights before he cut to 205. If he wanted to bulk up to 270, I bet you he could. The guy easily has room to grow. Why is it that everyone muscular over 240lbs is juicing?

Because he fought overseas and a lot of people I know in the military who travel overseas and are tied with the fight game say that using steriods over there is like smoking weed in the hood.
I still wanna see him in UFC tho
Also, you gotta understand these guys fight mulitple times in one night overseas and get hurt alot, steriods heal up injurys real quickly which is why a lot of wrestlers use it too.

Very true, I lived in Japan for awhile and drug testing in combat sports especially is pretty non-existent. I know in Pride they never tested accept for 2 shows which were the ones in the USA.
Hopefully they can get Kharitonov as well.
