He never ate anyone.

Most people I know are debating whether or not he is worthy of the name "Rapper".

I wish lil wayne still made music like this

i honestly think that the primary issue with lil wayne is that his music will likely not withstand the test of time. i don't agree with those who say that he is talentless, but i think that his style will likely not prove to have very much longevity in the hip hop world. he makes a certain type of rap, and while individuality is good and definition of style can help to gain success initially, it is diversity that keeps a rapper steady in the game, and i am not sure how much of this he has.

I really don't see how any straight guy could kiss another man on the lips. Wayne can say whatever he wants, that ain't right.

he said its just because he has love for baby for helping him come up. SO WHAT, ITS A GUY MAN!!! He should have slapped hands with him, ended it at that. LOL smh at wayne

well in reality whether or not he is gay really shouldn't have any influence on people's opinions of him as a rapper. we all just like a little controversy now and then!

I agree with Megstarr, the guy isn't talentless, but he is a niche rapper with a limited degree of substance whose work will not likely stand the test of time in the end.

i wish that rappers would concern themselves a little more with sounding intelligent. no one cares that you get money, Baby. you lost 25 cars as a result of hurricane Katrina...big ****ing deal. people lost everything they had and unlike you, didn't have money to just turn around and buy it all back. i hope he donated a sufficient amount to those who suffered rather than buying back those 25 whips...

I agree with what your saying. I think Jay-Z did a good job addressing the hurricane katrina situation. Alot of people think Jay doesn't care about anyone, but I think thats untrue. Hes tried to help in alot of tregedies such as Columbine and 9/11.

Minority Report is the best track off of Kingdom Come, in my opinion. That was a very honest album for him i think, with that track and Lost Ones. Not one of his best, but very honest.

I liked it. But Jay is my favorite of all time, so it almost a given that i would like it. lol

he kind of stepped away from his hustler image a little on that one, thats why some people didn't like it. Although I must admit I think Jay is at his best when hes talking about his hustling days.

But your right. For the most part it was honest, because who he is now, rather than what he was.

come to think of it though he might have been a bit TOO honest. because when i heard him say that 30 was the new 20 i was like...aww come on Jay-Z! no it's not! brother, you getting old! it's best to just embrace it and not play yourself! old will never be the new young! haha...not to say that 30 is old...

i just felt like when he was saying it in his song that it was the first time that Jay-Z was legitimately trying too hard. it became obvious that this was something that he was insecure about. that maybe he felt uneasy about dropping hip hop albums at his age. he needed to realize that no one questioned it then or questions it today. he didn't need to reassure himself in that way. we know he's hype regardless of how he's moving up in years. we didn't need that. it would have been more legit i think if he had have written a verse or two about how he's concerned that he may struggle to remain relevant at 30. because i think that if he was honest with himself, that was probably more realistic for him at that time. but then again, it is really difficult to drop a concept as real as that on traditional hip hop listeners. then they say you're "soft".

people attack you
but the smart people respect you more for it.
Masta Ace is a perfect example. he got swallowed by Boogie Man at Lyricist Lounge ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdL1SobYkwQ ). the public ripped on him for it and his reputation as a legend was threatened as a result. he dropped one of the illest diss tracks of all time (in my opinion) in response to the loss, but more importantly he included on the same album one of the most humble songs i have ever heard in which he addresses the battle and questions his own ability as a rapper. "Dear Diary" by Masta Ace is unbelievably honest, and i say unbelievably because it is literally barely believable that a hip hop artist would question his talent in a song and then throw it on an album for all to hear. maybe some people ridiculed him for it but it just made me respect him more, not only as an artist but as a person. hip hop gets too caught up in personifying perfection. everyone is balling, everyone gets *****es with big asses and little waists, everyone is the illest out there, blah blah blah.
to step outside of that and say, i'm just a person and at times i question whether or not i should even keep rapping...that's real, and THAT is respectable.

I hear you. I think its cool for a rapper to admit when they've failed or just be honest about a situation. I respect that more too.

The closest I can think of Jay admitting hes not perfect was on the final track on American Gangster...

"...And the Roc break up, had the people losing hope
Can't lie they had Muhammad Hovi on the ropes
Now I'm back in the go mode, back in the go-go's
Throwing the diamond up, repping the logo
Rose gold rose flow, I'm okay though
What Don't kill me makes stronger than before so
Here we go and I'm not domino
When it all falls down, I'm like Kanye's jaw
I might break but I don't fold, till I hold the sky in my hand
Yeah that's my goal
And then I bid you Freddy Adu
Prodigal Child, y'all not ready for the future
Then I disappear in the Bermuda Triangle
My name will be viewed such
Here's to the man that refused to give up
I want the sky *****, Chuuuuuuch..."-Jay-Z
