View Full Version : Ever spar a pro?
nirojsri 01-13-2009, 09:46 PM I got to spar a pro today he's number 3 in canada and is undefeated with 10 wins. Oh jesus I experienced 3 different things in 2 rounds. My first body shot , my first bruise from boxing and my first time almost getting knocked the **** out. On the bright side I got 3 body shots on him and about 8 on his head. He was ****ing fast he punched me so fast he scratched my eye with the glove and I had no time to blink before his jab hit me straight in the eye. It's been red for an hour. After he got me with a body shot a left hook to my rib , I almost ****ing dropped. He hit me with quite a few good hooks and I felt like I was about to get knocked out.
I asked him later on if he was going hard he said no that he was going easy on me. Although he said he was punching hard because he was practicing counters. So for me it was very hard because he would never make the first move and he'd wait for me to punch then counter me. My ****ing head hurts now and my eye is red and my eyebrow swollen. I only got to do 2 rounds with him though cuz my face was a bloody mess.
I think I did alright though for someone with only 1 fight.

Squabbles94806 01-14-2009, 02:30 PM That's what you want to do. Spar pros. That way it'll gauge where your skills are. There are various types of pros. Club fighters, high level pros, prize fighters. I usually spar with the club fighters.
It's good.

punchDrUnK MONK 01-15-2009, 11:33 PM damn sounds like he went pretty hard if u got all that damage from 2 rounds.. either that or maybe u guys are bigger weight class... im like 140 i sparred one pro at my gym, he is really good tho, went very easy on me, but its cool to get in there with a pro as a rookie amatuer. u can learn a lotttttttttttt. i love sparrring with him, i always take something from it to add to my knowledge or to my game. i dont look forward to the day where we go hard tho, lol. he will smash me.
actionjackson 01-16-2009, 12:51 AM which pro were you sparring who is #3? Was it Delaronde? I know he is a #3 and 10-0, think he's only got 1 or 2 ko's though.

I sparred benyamine besmi
Sinisterevo 01-16-2009, 04:55 PM It’s good to spar with amateurs because some are unconventional and they bring new looks into the ring.
Oriachim 01-16-2009, 05:09 PM never sappred pros but sparred no 5 amateur women of the world haha.
The Great Shark 01-17-2009, 07:41 AM yesterday i sparred leon dukes and last week i sparred both anthony doughty and wade lewis. i've also sparred keandre leatherwood. i've sparred with wade frequently and doughty a few times but only once with keandre and leon.
Yo info on that chick in your sig. I must get inside her.
I attempted to with Junior Witter at my kickboxing gym. I resorted to throwing kicks which he found hilarious.
sweet*science 01-17-2009, 12:20 PM I ve sparred a few pros, I sparred more when I first started getting started with boxing versus now. That was all the gym had available, I got my ass kicked a lot but i learned a lot made it easier when fighting amateurs. Also, more than half the pros I sparred were always either taller or had weight on me. Its great experience though.
danm0212 01-19-2009, 07:58 PM Ive sparred one pro who is lighter than me and it still felt like he was hitting me with bricks and im going over to visit another gym saturday to spar a pro my weight.
