im new to boxing, i just went in to see the trainer. he asked me if i was looking to compete or just get in shape. i told him for now i wanted to learn boxing and depending how good i get and how much i like it will i then decide to compete.

it is my goal to compete tho.

so i found out its $60 for 1 on 1, one hour session.

im not in a huge rush and dont expect to start boxing and then jump right into competing. im just wondering how long i would have to train since it will start to cost alot

there is another gym, its about a 30 minute ride for me tho, which has circuit training workouts run by the trainer, he claims this is how he trains his pros also. you just have to sign up as a member and can come to as many as you want.

would this be a beter investment?

you're looking at probably six months.

if i were you i would try to find a certified amateur gym or a gym where they have boxers that actually fight in amateur comp. $60 for an hour is way too much,it would cost you about $60.000 just to learn the basics! if you cant find an amateur club go with the other gym. boxing is very basic , its not like any other marital art. but its what the individual can do with those basics (genitics-abillity-dedication-etc) is what makes a fighter good or bad so there is no set time table before anyones first fight its all up to your indivdual abillity
