I didn't get it. It came down to me and another guy, and he already worked for the company, so he kind of knew the deal. But I thought it was very nice of her to call and let me know, instead of just leaving me hanging.. She did say that they would call me with the next opening, though, because I've met with quite a few people at this company and they all thought I was great. This being said, they WILL run a background check on me if they want me for a position.
So, do you all think I should send an email to the HR director and explain what happened, and why they will find a grand larceny charge on my record or just let them find it eventually? Do you think it will help my case at all, or not?

I don't think you should inform them of anything..chances are another job won't open for awhile and when it does if they call you they will probably ask you about it..if they don't only then would I bring it up and explain it to them.

DEFINETELY DO NOT LET THEM FIND IT OUT ON THEIR OWN. allison, you remember what happend to me over here. i would have never had that go down if i had let them know about the offense initially. if you don't check the "offense" box on your application then HR has written proof that you lied. that's what got me fired.
not to say that my offense was the same as yours, but you get what i'm sayin. btw, **** the email. talk to the director instead. in situations like this you want sincerity to be on your side. emails and faxes are the least sincere. phone calls are 2nd best only to actually showing up and talking to the director face to face.
good luck and keep kickin ass

This woman does everything by email. She works out of her home, and never gets on the phone..Everything thats ever been arranged by her has been through email..

well what if you email her asking her if it would be ok that you spoke with her on the phone? i'm pretty sure she'd understand once you explained everything to her on the phone why you didn't wanna just send an email.
but don't worry hun. good news is that i'm reading the history and process of beer making from nick's thread right now. so i may end up becoming a brewmaster.....i'm thinkin about it. what that means is that- if you're good- i may just hook you up with massive quantities of soto quality beer in the near future. seeeeeeee!!!! now SMILE!

Purity is right about a great many things. If you volunteer the information about your sordid past it will look way better than them stumbling across it later.

Unless you once snorted way too much coke and ended up an endentured love slave to Fidel Castro upon awakening a week later.
Usually best to leave that unsaid.

that should be highlighted as a sign of your adaptability and openess to new ideas
