Never had the chance to watch him live, but I've got a few of his fights on my computer and he seems pretty entertaining as opposed to some of Mayweathers "safty first" fights.

Whitaker's fights, especially later in his career, were pretty entertaining in my opinion. He was more flat footed and relied on reflexes and upper body movement as opposed to moving around the ring using his legs. His fights with Rivera, McGirt, Vazquez and Hurtado were all entertaining in my opinion. Even the Trinidad fight was decent...though Pea got whipped up on.

His fights with Poli Diaz, Roger Mayweather, and Jore Paez were all good too. They all contained some entertaining aspects, even if they weren't back and forth affairs. His early fights were generally such dominating performances that they lacked action. Pernell was usually always right there to hit though. He wasn't a big mover as some people make him out to be. He made many of his opponents miss while standing right in front of them...and in the case of McGirt and Haugen and Diaz, while coming forward too.

I think mayweather would, he is bigger and quicker. Pernell was more fun to watch though.

He's quicker offensively, I don't know about defensively.

My opinion on this is always the same.

It boils down to Pea's perfection in his defensive style vs PBF's amazing abilty to adapt and incredible focus.

I can never decide.

This would be a defensive snoozefest but i think the more effective punches would be landed by Floyd...

i agree, u couldn't touch whitaker, when he was right in front of you. watch whitaker vs. de la hoya... but then Mayweather, he can hit u perfectly, right where he wants u too.. and he's just so good.. but mayweather fought the same de la hoya.. so... i donno.. but i think

Some of the fans make me laugh they really do, Pernell Whitaker wasn't entertaining ? try watching more of his fights. I could name you atleast 10 of his fights that were entertaining.

Watching him use his amazing reflexes to avoid punches is just masterful/exciting to watch, Pernell Whitaker also always did something different in every fight. So he was always entertaining to watch and at Lightweight he would often throw 90 punches a round.

Floyd Mayweather was also pretty exciting at the lower weightclasses, and again i could name you 10 of his fights that are entertaining. But anyway onto this fight i don't really know.

They both only have 1 opponent each who sort of fought like them, Roger Mayweather is a bit like Floyd Mayweather but nowhere near as good. And Zab Judah is kind of like Pernell Whitaker without the reflexes/defense/concentration/.

I thought Pernell Whitaker handled Roger Mayweather pretty easily, except the knockdown he got caught with by being to over confident leaving his chin exposed. And despite Floyd Mayweather struggling early against Zab Judah, i also think he handled Zab Judah quite comfortably aswell.

If this took place at Lightweight then i can see it going two ways, Floyd Mayweather leading because he had more power than Pernell Whitaker. And he would take more chances because he could stop opponents at the lower weightclasses.

And if Floyd Mayweather can't hurt Pernell Whitaker then i can see Pernell Whitaker, outworking Floyd Mayweather on the inside. And lets not forget Pernell Whitaker was a good body puncher so he would land on Floyd Mayweather, alot more often that any other Floyd Mayweather opponent.

And lets also not forget both men are very underrated inside fighters, its hard one to choose because it depends really on who leads. Both men i feel have no real advantage over one another, so its too hard to pick IMO.
