View Full Version : Roger Huerta leaving MMA to pursue an acting career
Palma 01-09-2009, 05:28 PM Subject: Roger Huerta Turns Down UFC Contract To Pursue Acting Career
Popular lightweight Roger Huerta has turned down a new five-fight contract from the UFC and will instead, at least temporarily, pursue an acting career, the fighter has confirmed to Sherdog.
“I’m not burned out [with fighting],” said Huerta. “I have one fight left with the UFC and I want to honor that. As soon as they tell me to fight, I’ll fight my last fight on the contract. I saw that you have to dedicate as much as you do to training for a fight as you do for an acting role and I’m intrigued by that. I’m 25 years old. I see Chuck Liddell and Randy Couture and they didn’t really hit their primes till their thirties. I’m only going to be young so long and I know that movies and agencies and what not want the young look.”

Don Corleone 01-09-2009, 07:22 PM Wow I'm very disappointed. Huerta was one of the best. Plus my brother met him in a club in Toronto at Liberty Square and was speaking to him for a while. He didn't mention this, but I guess he was partying or maybe he didn't make his decision yet. He did however tell my brother his predictions for UFC 92. He predicted the Evans and Mir match right if I remember correctly and he predicted Silva over Rampage though. Anyways, if he feels it's better for him, than why not? I wonder what films he will be involved in...
JabSandwich 01-09-2009, 07:52 PM dammit Randy, see what you've done
We want Floyd 01-09-2009, 09:37 PM Thank God, Boxing & MMA loses its biggest qu&&rs
Eric Holder 01-10-2009, 01:08 PM Kind of disappointing cause Huerta was an entertaining fighter because he loved to go toe to toe and brawl
but I sort of expected this too, he has the movie star looks(no homo) and I read somewhere he was already working on a Teken movie
jakkups 01-10-2009, 01:13 PM I'm not really bothered myself. He had a good skill set and worked hard, but he was overrated IMO and was never really deserving of the push he got from UFC brass.

evilp0ptart 01-10-2009, 05:26 PM I'm pretty disappointed. His fight with Leonard Garcia was awesome. He's not the best fighter, but definitely an exciting one.
Palma 01-10-2009, 05:55 PM Keep an eye out for Polish MMA sensation Tomasz Drwal. The guy is a monster!

all his success came from being a pretty boy, acting will be a better place for him. he can bang all the ***** he wants and won't have to stick his pretty face in front of someone's fists
JabSandwich 01-11-2009, 10:26 PM he's a talented fighter but very much over-publicized. and thats because the ufc rode him to bring in the latin fans and more women.
snakerattle79 01-14-2009, 06:41 AM doesnt matter in the MMA world , he's not a Champ Caliber and his Starlike attitude doesnt suit MMA well

I agree. I was never all that impressed with him.
