So i have a dilemma, im just wondering who on here if anyone uses cleto reyes training 16oz lace ups as a multi purpose glove and what they think about them.

multi purpose meaning sparring 3 rounds VERY occasionally, maybe 5 to 10 times within the life of the glove.

How your hands feel on the heavy bag, protected? broken?

and how long they last from a good amount of bad and pad work.

I know I don't, i'm not that rich haha. Someone at my gym uses Cleto Reyes, 10 oz., couldn't tell you which ones though, he likes them. Best thing to do is ring the shop up if no-one on here can tell you.

He uses them for everything, but not all of the time. I think he switches between those and heavier gloves, so I think he uses bigger gloves to build his endurance etc. and then other days uses his Reyes to perfect his skills/speed with what I guess could be classed as fight gloves.

This next part is pure speculation from me but if you've found Cleto Reyes which go up to 16 oz. then they're probably designed with the intention of sparring/bag work in mind which means they should stand up to the task equal to other boxing gloves because in my experience almost all of the Cleto Reyes i've seen are either 8 or 10 oz., basically, fight gloves. So the fact they've specifically gone up to that oz. with those gloves suggests they had the idea of proper training in mind when designed.

HOWEVER, it's worth noting that technically no real glove is up for the task of bag work because the way they are designed is for boxing, as in sparring/fighting/pad work. The foam will always break down if you use them for bag work and the padding will be pushed to the sides causing the seams to rupture eventually. That's why bag gloves/mitts exist, however, the reality of boxing is almost everyone uses boxing gloves, not bag gloves or mitts, to train in because of it's obvious advantages for training (weight, comfort, etc.). With this in mind, you do have to ask yourself is it worth spending that much money on a glove that will inevitably break down, if you train frequently, probably within/by a year?

thats a really good thought thanks for sharing. yea i think im down for price as long as i get atleast 6 months out of them im fine.
