Daughter was surprised, but she came in the wrong way and I didn't get face on film!!! I'm bummed about that, but she was very surprised and very happy!!! She especially loved the present her day gave her. She's been wanting her upper ears pierced and Dad kept saying no. Well, he said yes.

Loosen your grip boa constrictor!(joking, I'm a parent)

I'm actually going through some tough parenting times now and you may be able to give me advice. My stepson has really been struggling in school. His grades have been the worst he's ever had. He's very smart and has been told this constantly all of his life and it's gone to his head. That's not the main problem though, he just doesn't seem to care at all. Any suggestions? BTW he's 10.

I used to have that same problem. I was actually trying to do the work but my spelling and grammer were so bad I would know I was spelling something wrong, get frustrated and give up. When I did work my ass off and do what I thought was a good job I would get C's.

It was easier to pretend I didn't care and not do the work that to do it and only get average grades dispite trying so hard. I didn't get help for my learning disability until I was in the 12th grade. Does he seem bright but never willing to do the work? Does he dazzle people when he talks but has trouble writting things down? Get him tested for a learning disability

You hit the nail right on the head Creed. Since he was 3 he's been able to talk like an adult, and has a broader vocabulary than alot of adults that I know. He has trouble staying on task, putting thoughts to paper. And maybe he acts like he doesn't care due to that, makes alot of sense. Thanks

The most frustrating thing was I used to try to tell my teachers that I was having trouble. I tried to tell my partents too. Everyone just told me I was being lazy which made it more frustrating.

Maybe something like Silvan Learning Centre or something would help him out.

My boyfriend has his eyebrow and ears pierced, it's pretty sexy on him if I might say so myself.

I don't have the balls to get anything on my face pierced though... besides my ears.

Check with the school and see what programs they have and what tests they can do. Call on his teachers and call a meeting. Don't let them put you off for more than two weeks. Make them meet with you. Some teachers have no problems with it, some do. Do this now before he gets into middle school. IF the schools say there isn't much they can do for whatever reason (that's what I've heard) do some research or call an advocate for your child. DO NOT stop fighting for him NOW!! THe sooner you give up, the sooner he gives up. All of it depends on what state you are in, if it's a learning disability, a psychological problem, or just laziness. If it's the first two, the school may have a program to help, if it's the third, a good swift kick in the rear has sort of worked for my son. I fought the schools and got delayed until he was in middle school where they don't have to do much for him according to the laws in my state.

In summary, have him tested for a learning disability first, rule that out if you can. Then go for the psychological testing.

Good luck and please let me know how it goes.

He also might be bored. When bored, they aren't being challenged enough.

I'm not too much into the piercing scene, but I think what she is asking for isn't overboard. Just one more piercing on the upper ears. She was so thrilled with it she shocked her Daddy. He didn't think she would be that happy. I told him it was that important to her, so he got a lesson in girls last night.....LOL

That's cool. For the longest time I wanted the top of one of mine pierced, but it just looks too painful, so I never had it done. I just have my ears pierced once. Thinking of getting them done again, but I doubt I ever will. I'm not a huge fan of facial piercings either, but some people it does actually look good on, and I'm not just saying that because my boyfriend has his eyebrow pierced either. I remember seeing him with it a long time ago, before I knew him, and thinking he was just as good looking then.

Piercings just seem to fit well on some people.

I thought you hated them? One time, I got drunk and decided it was a good idea to stick a safty pin thru my eyebrow. It was fine for about 5 or 6 days then one day I woke up and couldnt open my eye, I went to the bathroom and looked and my eye was grossly swollen. I got out of the piercing scene after that. But my buddy had both his eyebrows pierced twice, his lebrea peirced, and 3 tounge rings......

Yeah, the eyebrow piercing sorta gives my beau the "bad boy" look, even though he's a good boy.
