Its their cheap way of not giving you a gift.

It's their way of trying to show concern for your pathetic life when they really don't give a flying **** about you. Just like when your boss tells you good job keep it up, but he doesn't even know your name or what the **** was it that you just did.

My boss is MAD cool though.

They are saying they are happy that you didn't die in your momma's cooter and are reminding you to be happy about it too.

It's a greeting to you to say how wonderful they think it is that you were born. You are a light in their life and they are wishing you a happy day that celebrates the day of your birth, which brought you into their world.
