View Full Version : [HOLY S**T!] Did Common fall off?
Kobe Bryant 01-06-2009, 01:02 AM He can still rhyme. But I just think with his current success that he's not producing the same quality. UMC was not that good in comparison to his past efforts. For me Finding Forever was a let down. Both of these albums have some real good songs. But most of it leaves me unimpressed. Gladiator is by far his best track on the album.
I'm just used to him producing fire. One Day It All Makes Sense, Ressurection, Like Water For Chocolate, and Be are all top notch stuff. But these last two albums along with Electric Circus have been let downs.
oldgringo 01-06-2009, 01:12 AM I don't think these last two albums were amazing front to back, but they still had a number of good songs. I Want You, So Far To Go, UMC, Punch Drunk Love, Gladiator, Drivin Me Wild, and a couple of others were all hot.
Electric Circus was just awful though. The last two were nowhere near that bad.

this last one was pretty bad.....
oldgringo 01-06-2009, 01:37 AM this last one was pretty bad.....
i can't say it was bad overall because it was short and had 4-5 good tracks. umc, punch drunk love, inhale and gladiator were all hot in my opinion.
sisforshaq 01-06-2009, 01:42 AM I at first praised it but in the passing weeks I only kept 3 tracks. UMC, Announcement and Punch Drunk Love.

Fix, what do you think of this Dream Warriors track? I thought you'd like this 1. I dedicate this to me beating you in hoops this week.
Killa Cam 01-06-2009, 02:47 AM His last album was pretty bad....if his next one is as bad/worse, then yeah, he's fallen off.
I woudn't write him off just yet...
SkilledB 01-06-2009, 09:36 AM he's had some decent tracks in the past years
Go,The Light,The Food etc
his new album is nice too
universal mind control(or planet rock) is sick
Floyd Sinclair 01-06-2009, 11:14 AM gladiator is one of the best songs of 2008...the rest of the cd is good, but not great. I wouldnt say Common fell off though, the day Common falls off is the day I throw out all my rap cds.
MetalVomit 01-06-2009, 12:12 PM OG, bite your damn tongue about Electric Circus. I must be the only guy in the world that thinks that album is great. Not a classic, but it's very good in my opinion. UMC is a solid album. I liked the majority of it. It's probably more accessable than Finding Forever. Inhale is awesome, great use of the "Don't walk away" drum sample.

Haha, I remember buying Electric Circus, listening to it all the way through, then I just put it away and blocked it out of my memory for a few months. Went back and listened to it again and still couldn't find more than one or two tracks I was REALLY feeling.
jack_the_rippuh 01-06-2009, 01:54 PM I don't know what he's trying to do with the music now, but he should just stick to rhyming.
Give us that Be ****.
MegStarr* 01-06-2009, 05:22 PM i think Common tries to bring a different conceptual sound with every album and that some of the sounds work better than others. he is just trying to change it up with each album and bring something different. sometimes it flies, sometimes it doesn't. but he is still one of the best rappers of all time. no question. i will never lose faith in his ability to drop the dopest of material. he will never fall off. he'll just keep trying new things that you might or might not like.
just thought i'd post this track because i love it.
