Australian boxer Jeff Fenech was stabbed on a Sydney street last night.

Fenech was rushed to hospital covered in blood after he was set upon and bashed and stabbed by a gang of four men. His jawbone was visible through the savage cut he received to his face. The gash on his right cheek measured an estimated 7cm by 4cm. A casual night out for Fenech and his wife Suzee and family turned horribly wrong after he was attacked by the gang outside a restaurant in Brighton le Sands in Sydney's south. Fenech was shaking hands with passers-by and well-wishers on The Boulevarde in Brighton when he was set upon by the gang of men who came out of two cars. He had just sent his two daughters and their babysitter home in a limousine when the attack took place. Fenech had finished dinner with family and friends and was speaking to a man on the corner of The Boulevarde and Grand Pde when the four assailants leapt from two cars. Witnesses said one man pinned the boxer's arms behind his back while the other three began punching him in the face and chest.
