View Full Version : Dynamite 2008 - Absolute insanity (spoilers)
sunthunder 12-31-2008, 08:40 AM What a ridiculous event. All the rules about K-1 fighters being such better strikers than MMA fighters were just broken.
Kawajiri massacred Takeda
Mousasi destroyed Musashi
Overeem KO'd Hari!
Crocop stops Choi with leg kicks.
MARK HUNT IS KNOCKED OUT BY MANHOEF!
Aoki owned Alvarez in just over a minute.
The only bad thing was the cancellation of the JZ vs Hansen bout, which was probably the best fight on paper. And it sounds a bit worrying - Hansen failed his pre-fight medical and has been hospitalised for a "head injury", and that is all that is known. My initial thought was that it was a Kimbo-Shamrock situation....like Hansen tripped and cut his head, but the fact he's been hospitalised sounds a bit troubling. Hope he's ok.
The end of 2008 is ridiculous.
Savino 12-31-2008, 09:30 AM need to watch this
StillUnknown 12-31-2008, 11:10 AM man Manhoef must have the hardest punch in MMA. he stopped Hunt with one shot, while moving backwards. scary ****, imagine if he had a ground game, he'd be unbeatable.
Aoki was literally on his ass chasing Alvarez who was running like he was in a horror movie. the fight is stood up, Alvarez chooses to throw a leg kick that Aoki partially catches and uses to attach himself like a leech to Alvarez and that was all she wrote
Aoki defies conventional wisdom, one dimensional fighters were supposed to be a thing of the past, yet somehow Aoki continues to get victories over top-tier fighters

I dunno man those Kiddy K-1 bouts (the 18 and under ones) were a real stinker to watch
and the Bob Sapp fight was just hilarious for all the wrong reasons
(his opponent was dressed in full costume if you missed it live)

yeah, he was moving backwards, but hunt leaped, face first, onto his fist. pretty funny in slow motion.
Kazushi Sakuraba and Mirko Filipovic need to hang em up both great who are just shot now

yeah, the costume crap was hilarious....
i was thinking, its almost a bit unfair cause after you punch the guy in the face, its hard to see his expression
Yaman 12-31-2008, 07:26 PM Yeah it's pretty ****ed up seeing 2 of my favorites getting KO'd, one if which had never been ko'd before(Mark Hunt).
And Hari, damn. He needs to take a break before he fights again. He's an amazing fighter who brings a lot of excitement so I hate to see him getting starched like that.
jakkups 12-31-2008, 07:34 PM What was great about the event for me was the fact that the MMA fighters blitz the K1 fighters.
jakkups 12-31-2008, 07:39 PM And the fact that we get to see Hari get his ass kicked again next year when him and Overeem meet up in DREAM for their MMA match.

yeah I still don't see the point of that one, lol.
Hari should take a pass .. as he's already 0-1 in MMA and fighting Overeem with smaller gloves he's got little to no chance.
I'd put the total fight time at under 60 seconds.
how many people in this thread saw the stream(s)?
**too late now but I woulda liked to see Schilt and Zimmerman swap opponents as i think it woulda made for better fights.
and yeah Sakuraba really needs to retire. Dullest MMA main event I've ever seen.
while were on the topic of Badr Hari and MMA, for anyone who watched last night during the promo video's
who was the person Badr took a swing at? just from the looks it appeared to be Josh Barnett
does anyone know the story behind that incident? thanks
jakkups 12-31-2008, 08:45 PM That was Peter Graham an australian K1 fighter. It was before their first fight when Badr was taunting him and saying give me a kiss, and when Graham pushed him he took a swing and they had a little tussle.
Then in the actual match Graham KO'ed him cold with a spinning heel kick.

o right that was the rolling thunder kick that broke Hari's jaw in 2 places
yeah after posting I actually youtubed the clip myself
thanks for the info though.
at first I though it was something MMA related (along the lines of Hari calling out MMA fighters for being pusses ala what he did at last DREAM event.)

ROLLlNG THUNDERRRR
Hari doesnt want to fight Overeem in MMA
Despite Overeem’s answer, Hari was of a different mind.
“It’s nothing against the offer, but I’m a standup fighter. It’s what I do, and MMA is not my sport. There will be no MMA fight soon or in the future.”

yep, good article. here's the rest of the post fighter comments for any who want to check em out

Despite agreeing to an MMA fight vs Overeem I can't really blame Hari for wussing out and not taking the fight
and Overeem's side of it, why bother facing a kick boxer in MMA? Alistair's got to establish himself as 1 of the best MMA Heavyweights .. and fighting Badr Hari isn't a forward move
**the Bonjasky-Overeem K-1 bout does interest me, but I wonder if/when it will happen.
