This is from a column on MSNBC. The writer needs to be bludgeoned with a steel rod for writing something so incredibly stupid:

“Alaska has one of the highest suicide rates in America — in large part because of the large number of Alaska Natives who take their lives.”

It’s good he clarified that at the end. If I didn’t read that it’s because of the fact that they take their own lives, I would not have understood what prompts the suicide rate… oh my god… Yes, even MSNBC has these types of people working for them.

Although he could have clarified better, I think the Alaskan Natives are looked at as a different population to other Alaskans.

Yes, they are looked at differently. However that is a fallacy in writing to force the reader to make that assumption in the middle of the paragraph. Before and after that statement, there are no clarifiers to his point thus making him look like a complete 6th Grade retard.
