This match-up was totally great. Griffin was dominating in the first round. He was getting some nice leg kicks and combinations. Evans was using his jab effectively but Griffin had the slight reach advantage and had an advantage in the reach of his legs and was connecting with them. Even in the second round Griffin was more active and more on the offense slightly. In the third, Evans totally came out with an explosive performance knocking Griffin on to the floor and hitting with a barrage of punches. Griffin held on and slowly weasled his way into full guard. And then later, Evans just starting giving it to Griffin right hand after right hand until the ref stopped it making him the NEW UFC LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION. Many people predicted Griffin would win even the by the UFC fan votes with an overwhelming majority thinking Griffin would win. It now makes Evans 18-0. I picked Evans to win and I give him a lot more respect now but even Griffin deserves a lot of respect for showing class by immediately congratulating Evans after the match and on the post fight interview. What a great and entertaining match-up...

I picked him too man, one of the few who picked both him and Rampage. Evans is a beast I saw him ko Liddell live and I stopped doubting him

No one's invincible but I just didn't picture him getting hurt by anything from Griffin because Griffin is not a knockout artist. Evans can be somewhat elusive, he knows when to tighten his shots and he looked amazing against Liddell. But yet the UFC votes were 70% to 30% before the match. As much as I enjoy watching UFC, a lot of the fans are un-educated about the sport and they're casual fans but I can't blame them. UFC is new even though I was watching it for a while. People automatically pick the fan favourite to win and disregard their favourite opponents chance...Evans proved a lot of people wrong but he also proves some people right...I can't believe he's actually champ now. He might be the most unpopular Light Heavyweight in UFC or MMA history. LOL. But still, people shouldn't have counted him out...
