He stated some of the things he does in his training in an interview a good while back and it was bodyweight exercises. ballast 11-09-2004, 06:24 PM Kostya Tszyu actually does a bit more than just calisthenics for training. He makes extensive use of Russian kettlebells using a variety of exercises.Look at the link below for the full interview he conducted last year: http://www.australiankettlebells.com/pdfs/kostya.pdf I saw a documentary about Tszyu a few years ago and it showed him doing a bunch of different calisthenics in a circuit, one of which was burpees.Sounds like he does some of the more productive exercises. spinksjinx 11-09-2004, 10:24 PM Kostya Tszyu actually does a bit more than just calisthenics for training. Awesome, thanks....That Kettlebell technique was discussed widely across the board and praised, seems to be a russian thing though and pretty rough. Mr. Untouchable 11-09-2004, 10:52 PM Awesome, thanks....That Kettlebell technique was discussed widely across the board and praised, seems to be a russian thing though and pretty rough. I probably wasn't a member then, but I am looking for alternatives to weightlifting besides the basic calistenics. So what exactly is the Russian Kettlebell Technique? ballast 11-09-2004, 11:55 PM I use a few different sets of kettlebells, and aside from the thicker handle and displacement of weight, they really aren't that different from dumbells. If you want to get "rough" in your strength and conditoning, then fill up a duffel bag with 100+ pounds of loose playground sand and do a few sets of clean and presses, shouldering, bearhug walks or lift and load drills.Beats the hell out of barbells any day and it's good for building strength in the clinch. Swifty 11-10-2004, 02:50 AM i live in australia and i rememeber i once saw kostya sharing the way he works his legs out. From memory, He doesn't involve weights as he says "he wants speed rather then power." And so he only uses his own body weight, but does ALOT of repetitions. Alot of his leg-workouts are very basic ( Skipping with a heavy rope, skipping with a light rope, short sprints, squats, etc.) patto1984 11-11-2004, 02:53 AM you see him train on his dvd destiny. he does the wackest exercises. nebody seen the one where he wears a headband wit a elastic band with a tennis ball at the end of it and continuesly puches at it for accuracy. heaps of neck exercises. he does his situps with his legs straight up in the air and touches his toes. he regards his training regime as 8 hours of hell a day. NAB 11-11-2004, 05:05 AM Tszyu also does a lot of balance work. puppy_dogg 11-11-2004, 05:18 AM what kind of exercises and things can you do to help your balance, i know you have to be taught how to throw a punch correctly but is there anything just for working on better balance? NAB 11-11-2004, 09:26 PM He does a lot of standing on his head (centre of gravity work), spinning to make himself dizzy & then trying to get balance as quick as possible. I think he just has good balance & that's not something that can be worked on too much This article shows some of his training. http://kalgoorlie.yourguide.com.au/detail.asp?class=sport&subclass=local&category=general%20sport&story_id=349855&m=11&y=2004 patto1984 11-11-2004, 11:36 PM haha id like to see *****ells training regime. eat potato chips 3X2 etc etc Tha Greatest 04-10-2005, 04:49 PM can someone please explain to me what is kettlebell training and some excercises and what exactly is a kettlebell and where can i get one from random guy 04-10-2005, 05:18 PM http://www.15rounds.com/images/Kostya%20Tszyu/images.php does anyone have pictures or a video clip of him doing the tennis ball workout?. leff 04-10-2005, 06:31 PM can someone please explain to me what is kettlebell training and some excercises and what exactly is a kettlebell and where can i get one from search for pavel tsatsoulin he sell them and has written books about it Tha Greatest 04-10-2005, 06:49 PM search for pavel tsatsoulin he sell them and has written books about it thanks are they expensive? italianboxer 04-30-2011, 07:59 AM I recame here just cs im here with my tennis ball and an elastic and i was trying to understand how to do it.i saw this video almost an year ago ahah! found http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i210Jp8KbJ4 1.20.. |
