Well it's about that time everybody. Time to grit it out, end the speculation and come up with your final list for 2008. A year that was different than any year in recent memory for a lot of people in and out of music. So throw in the OFFICIAL List and let's see what all our great posters come up with... Feel free to copy and paste my format and fill in your blanks.

Artist Of The Year
Kanye West
Hate 808s or love 808s, Ye clearly got people buzzin and talking about his latest album. Using the vintage Roland TR-808 drum machine to create ear buzzing patterns and lacing his own auto tuned brand of music created a sound we never heard before. West for me is the clear choice for 2008. (Not to mention his insane shows he put on during the Glow In The Dark Tour of 08'.)

Honestly, all the hip hop fans I know wrote off the Kanye disc from the first listen. I'd say there's lots more positive hype about the TI and Rick Ross albums, which I didn't care for either one. From my list above, you can see my taste is a tad softer than that anymore...

i'm genuinely surprised that no one has mentioned Jake One in relation to this topic. White Van Music was easily one of this year's best, in my opinion. solid album from a solid producer. a few personal choice tracks from the album...

i liked the 88 keys **** :D

you should hear ABN's (Z-Ro & Trae) 'It Is What It Is', it's better than 'Crack' imo.

On topic, 808's isn't a hip-hop album.

There are alot of contenders for album of the year, there isn't one that stands out from the great releases this year....but i won't get into that again.

But before everybody gets their panties in a bunch, i do recognize that 'Nig.ger' is in the top 5.

I would include "The Sweetest Love" by Robin Thicke and Ashanti's "The Way That I Love You" on my singles list...don't know how far we go into R&B on this board though...

i liked the 88 keys **** :D

really?
i was soooo disappointed in The Show. my expectations were high because each of the MCs that make up the group are so individually strong but i thought that the collaborative album really fell short.

I gotta give my Hip Hop Album of the year to Young Jeezy- The Reccession, with Q-Tip close behind.

A lot of **** I don't even bother ****in with. Game and Nas provided what I needed. Kanye's album was a weed plate. Common's was ehhh. Jeezy didn't really give me anything to look out for his album. Rick Ross album was better than Wayne's. I'm hella late on Cube's album though.
