View Full Version : Hand Wraps and tape! MayweatherJones 12-12-2008, 03:32 PM Heys guys, this might come across as a stupid question but i noticed pros dont wear wraps instead they tape their hands, why is this ? Squabbles94806 12-12-2008, 04:30 PM Heys guys, this might come across as a stupid question but i noticed pros dont wear wraps instead they tape their hands, why is this ? They gotta protect their money makers. JulioCesaChavez 12-12-2008, 05:10 PM They use the same bandages and boxing tape as they do duruing fights. Not all pro's do this though, as not all have so much in funds! It will cost you around €10 a day in material, and you probably need someone else to help you too. My uncles company sponsorship pays for the materials (and other training stuff) and I got a Joey who carries my bag and has a first aid certificate, so he wraps my hands lol. If you can't box it off like I did then I have seen bigger pro's with large hands use two sets of wraps as well. They put the Mexican wraps underneath and standard ones on top. Sometimes they wear knuckle guards (or a sponge) too. ScottDBA 12-12-2008, 05:15 PM Guaze and tape wraps provide more protection for the hands/wrists than regular handwraps. Unfortunately all that guaze and tape is expensive and it takes alot longer to have your hands wrapped so it's really only realistic for high level pros to get their hands wrapped with guaze and tape before every workout. Unfortunately all that guaze and tape is expensive and it takes alot longer to have your hands wrapped so it's really only realistic for high level pros to get their hands wrapped with guaze and tape before every workout. You don't need to do it for every workout though. Just the big sparring sessions coming up to a fight. If you know anyonw who works in a hospital, they can probably get you a whole lod of it at a dsiscount price. i'm not just talking about cheifing, they can order it in bulk for quite a low price. MayweatherJones 12-12-2008, 05:57 PM Is it wiser to use two sets of handwarps ? AndyTravis 12-12-2008, 09:13 PM Is it wiser to use two sets of handwarps ? If you are new to boxing the best thing you can do for your hands is strengthen them with basic exercises and learn proper technique so you punches land cleanly and you aren't snapping your wrists. JulioCesaChavez 12-12-2008, 09:17 PM Is it wiser to use two sets of handwarps ? Yes, but make sure at least one of them are of the mexican stretchy variety. Sometimes if a bone is broken/fractured or weak from before, the solid wraps can push it in and make it more painful. mexican wraps mould to shape of hand alot better. I use two sets of mexican wraps when I do not use gauze/tape and it makes a huge difference. Keeping Gauzxe handy for big sparring contests is wise, as well as using the tape around the wrist area even when you do not use gauze. Equilibrium 12-12-2008, 09:30 PM Is it wiser to use two sets of handwarps ? I have pretty damn big hands and i have been using 2 pairs of 180 inches wraps forever. Protects my hand just fine. One pair doesn't feel like quite enough. shawnrf 12-12-2008, 09:53 PM I have to agree with two pairs of wraps. I have had a few hand surgeries in the past and my hands feel so much more protected. I go two pairs of Mexican wraps. MayweatherJones 12-13-2008, 06:54 AM Great advice guys, thank you. Equilibrium 12-18-2008, 02:08 AM Once again EquilibriBUm is repeating my tips to feign intelligence and superior knowledge. Pathetic! Use your own brain cunty.. Hmm, i don't bother reading your posts even less in the training section. Cause i don't want training tips from people who just prentend to be fighters. 1000 fist push ups riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight? I have been saying that i use 2 pairs of wraps forever. I certaintly didn't get the idea from you. Just look at everybody making fun of you on these boards, you're a joke man. sweet*science 12-18-2008, 02:12 AM My first amateur fight my trainer wrapped my hands in gauze and tape. Normally I wrap my hands myself and use the traditional everlast stretch wraps. I will say the gauze and tape felt a hell of a lot better. Lol, you are proving yourself to be a bum if you think 1000 press ups on the knuckles is too much for someone serious about boxing. You are gay and the workouts from Brian Todd's book will prove you wrong: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Workouts-Boxings-Greatest-Champs-Muhammad/dp/1569754438 No sorry, a bum like Gatti is not included! That shows how much you know about boxing, lol. Idolising fighters who are blocking shots with the head and chin! It is quite obvious press ups will improve the fitness and workrate of muscles used in punching, but I suppose you are right (according to the guidebook of bums) and all them top pro's are wrong! The funny thing is that even when you are almost right snd copy me, you still manage to get it slightly wrong! When using 2 sets of wraps, at least one of them must be the mexican type wraps. Otherwise they will be too rigid and not mould to hand shape. Sometimes they can cause more pain and problems ****licker, by pushing on injured joints. So stop being a tramp and buy some stretchy mexican wraps! Equilibrium 12-18-2008, 03:55 AM IS that why they ask for more expert advice and giving green K for it? You said word for word: "The most important thing for a boxer is to do 1000 knuckle push ups a day." You really got a boner for green k uh? http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=231968 Nerd. Squabbles94806 12-18-2008, 10:21 AM Is it wiser to use two sets of handwarps ? That's a whole lot of handwraps. I set of mexican hand wraps, tape and sponges....that's all you need. JulioCesaChavez 12-18-2008, 07:27 PM You really got a boner for green k uh? http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=231968 Nerd. Geek, that is about points not gk. You are the one who made screenprints of karma table! Pure NERD, we didn't even have Internet in my ghetto school, never mind learning how to do screenshots! We did however learn the proper use of paragraphs. Generation chav are all illiterate imbecile's like you! You said word for word: "The most important thing for a boxer is to do 1000 knuckle push ups a day." :rofl:it seems to me you only make an issue of it BECAUSE YOU CANNOT EVEN DO HALF THAT AMOUNT ON A DAILY BASIS, FATSO!!!! I may have said that to emphasise how important it is. I remember sdaying you need to do 5-7 miles per day as well on top of ther boxing stuff. That is how you push yourself and avoid bneing an overweight bum like you. As a Canadian pie eater, I know for a fact that you weigh more than 200lbs and have abodyfat in excess of obesity safe levels of 25%. if anyone wants ot be a bum repeating same easy routines like you, then go for it! Put if you want to know what it means to be truly fit, then do 1000 press ups and 5-7 miles per day like most pro's and top am's too! Just answer my question; how many can you do and be HONEST do you really get past 10 without huffing and puffing like the fat blob that you are? Stop lying to yourself about your own ability (or lack thereof) and stop trying to hold back people that do want to succeed with your limiting beliefs. I feel sorry for ya son, I really do. Equilibrium 12-18-2008, 07:54 PM Of course i weight more than 200 pounds you dumb ****. I'm 6'4 234 pounds with 12% bodyfat. I actually spend time training in boxing instead of spending an hour doing 1000 imaginary fist press ups. You aren't fooling anybody, you spend your days posting on these forums with your 2 accounts. You don't have a job and you even have less time to train. Between JulioCesaChavez and your ironmike account you have 3000 posts in less than 2 months. I'm leaving for the gym soon, by the time i come back you'll have 50 more posts and i'll have worked out for 2-3 hours. ****ing poser. Look at yourself before you call other people fat, i could use your double chin as a speedbag. SOY-COMO-SOY 12-18-2008, 08:18 PM Of course i weight more than 200 pounds you dumb ****. From next week I will have even less time. Meanwhile gay Equilibrium is here every second to make sure he gets to reply to every post! How sad, the fatso just admitted to logging off for only 2-3 hours. He has no handspeed like mine which is why he taks longer making posts. Next week i will have even less time and may not even post here everyday, but fatso will be here as this is the only place where his career exists! Is that all you got? It would have been offensive if you compared me to a gay Canuck though. You double chin comments are falling on deaf ears too because it is simply not true. i think you are jealous now that i proved I am a real fighter and athlete with my film star looks fighter of the night trophy pic! you are jealous as a fat sod who has NO trophies, your pic will never fit on the screen and more importantly you are jealous because even if you saved up enough of your allowance (give to you by ya mum), you have obese dimensions that will burst out of that size M boss jacket and 30'' Armani's. I bet ya waist size is more like 40''! Mine is 32'' even now, after I have 'filled out'. You would get sparked out you slow fat Canadian bum. Why avoid the question I gave you before? Because you can't do that many press ups fat boy and can't throw that many venomous punches as a result! No wonder you always mention that because it makes you feel insecure about your fitness (or should I say fatness?) and lack of speed ya fat cunt!
