I listened to Food & Liquor last night from beginning to end, and I can say, without a doubt, that it is the best rap album I have ever heard. He raps all 16 songs without any talk of killing people, or making money, or ****ing *****es or whatever...

It's all creativity, with fantastic lyrically wordplay, with tight background beats that really complement what is being said, instead of just adding a catchy beat in the background.

Anyway, I'm going to listen to The Cool sometime in the next week or so... and I wanted to know, which one is better overall?

Lupe has the talent to be an ATG.

He's only got one more album to do it though... he's retiring after Lup-END I heard.

I didn't really like Food and Liquor but The Cool was awesome. It's sad he's retiring after one more album, wasted talent.

I thought the Cool was a snoozefest....not a bad cd to play when you having problems gettin to bed. Food & liquor is real nice....murder mac gives it a 4.5/5

Many consider Lupe to be the best new rapper of the 2000's, i think hes one of the better but in my opinion buddens >>>

Lupe probably won't be a legend, because hes retiring too soon.

when you pick your absolute favorites aren't you suppose to narrow it down to like 3...maybe 4 tracks? i know sometimes it's hard, but come on!

i agree completely
i find him a bit boring to begin with.
i think that that's probably Lupe trying to pump out as much as he possibly can in the short span of time that he will remain in the rap game due to his chosen retirement. why not just not retire so soon and come out with three solid albums over time that showcase growth and progression as an artist? i don't really think he's at the point in which he can drop a legendary TRIPLE disc release, but then again i'm not a huge Lupe fan. i certainly won't complain if he surprises me though. i'll bump that ****.

I think both have high points. I used to not really feel Food & Liquor, and I thought The Cool was so much better, until I went back in and listened to F & L, and I find both bout equal now.

I think that I have changed my mind...

All of the best songs on The Cool I had already heard a bunch, which made me think that F&L was better.

The best songs on each:

F&L:
The Emperor's Soundtrack
Outro (the background beat on this one is just SICK)
The Cool

The Cool:
Hip Hop Saved My Life
Put You On Game
Streets On Fire
