View Full Version : How long to concussions last?

Last week I had a 27" t.v fall on my head at work and safe to say, it knocked me stupid.

I went to the doctors the next day and he told me I had a concussion and it was going to be a few days before the dizzyness and headaches went away, but here it is a week later and they are still here. Almost the same level too.

Is this normal? Do they always last like this and then just go away? Does it slowly get better or does it just go away one day?

if you get another concussion before that one goes way you can get second impact syndrome and die.

"How fast people recover from brain injury varies from person to person. Although most people have a good recovery, how quickly they improve depends on many factors. These factors include how severe their concussion was, what part of the brain was injured, their age, and how healthy they were before the concussion..."

Here the rest of these article on brain injuries... http://www.cdc.gov/ncipc/tbi/Section03.htm

It's a pretty good read.

Well, I have had several times where I have gotten wacked stupid including a time I woke up at the bottom of a hill that I walked down to get to work everyday. I don't have any memory of falling down it, but I was dizzy as ****. I took two days off and felt better. I probably should of gone to the hosbital

I told you what to do....go see a chiropractor. Something falling on your head can impact the vertabre in your neck and pinch the nerves. Ever since I started seeing a chiropractor and taking my kids to see one, we've all stopped having severe headaches for any reason. I have been hit in the head many times (abusive family growing up) and for the first time in many years, I don't have headaches unless I'm sick. Something is wrong with the vertabre I bet.

yes see a chriopractor ..... OH ya and just as a note

5 people die each year from chriopractic each year in Australia ... so for canada im sure the figures are similar good luck.

PS. id get a cat scan and stuff done first to make sure no hemoraging on the brain and **** like that is going on first before you get ppl to twist your neck and crack you

I agree with Astro on this, rule out everything else, but chiros also take xrays before making adjustments to see where the problem is.

I just noticed the spelling mistake in the title and want to point it out.
