View Full Version : People should really stop using Amir Khans age as an excuse...
Oriachim 12-08-2008, 08:39 AM Seriously its getting annoying, "people keep forgetting hes 21 years old...", "hes only 21 yrs old he needs a chance to improve, did ricky hatton fight good competition at 21 years old?"
Firstly Amir Khan is on sky box office where people must pay to watch him fight, whether hes 21 or not is not the point, he should be satisfying the viewers not fighting bums who are just there for a pay cheque. Secondly Ricky Hatton and Joe Calzaghe at 21 yrs old weren't even on sky sports, never mind sky box office. (it took joe 20 fights to get reconized).
I admit he looked impressive fighting a guy who just came there to collect a cheque. Into he fights his demons against Bredes Prescott he hasn't got a leg to stand on, if he beats Bredes and then starts winning at least one world title. (vacant included) i'll start paying to watch him.... but guys stop using Amirs age as an excuse as I just proved that age shouldn't mean anything if you're on sky box office. To make matters worst, Mike Tyson was the most feared man in boxing at 20 and Naseem Hamed was the youngest brit to win a world title.
Kunty McPhuck 12-10-2008, 02:08 PM Blame Frank Warren not Khan, thats the 1st thing, 2ndly the age thing the boy is still growing.
The problem is, since the Olympics he has been pushed down our throats and people are getting sick and tired of him, being this big name boxer due to hype but in reality he is still an up & commer who is still learning
sparked_85 12-10-2008, 05:01 PM yeah Warren is to blame in the sense he is marketting him based on him a household name not necessarily a great fighter.
Khan himself always makes the right noises.
He said he wanted Prescott?
They should make that fight. With a full camp under Roach and a better gameplan. A win would really light a fire under his career.
With a good card. Macca vs Banks, Mitchell vs a world ranked opponent.
That is worth 15 pounds man.
I think that's the way it's going to go. With Amir fight consistantly at big London venues it makes sense. Of course he could get a stream of modest opponents hopefully Freddie Roach says '**** that'
Frank is unlikeable but he is no mug.
DuranKOdMyHorse 12-11-2008, 10:26 PM All because he won a medal at the Olympics and as usual the British media came all over his name.
The British media sicken me. The next time there's a world cup we'll have to listen to them continue to talk about 1966.
Quiet_Storm 12-12-2008, 01:51 PM He's still a prospect, give him a break.
stefjonno1 12-12-2008, 01:57 PM All because he won a medal at the Olympics and as usual the British media came all over his name.
Olympic medal no big deal no?

I think your gettin mixed up with the british media and the english media. Outwith England the rest of the uk dont really enjoy hearing abouy 66, no what i mean? Although it makes it all the more special when they get dumped out.
Tata Moran 12-13-2008, 03:46 AM Give him more time, and several bouts to redeem himself.
_Hunter_ 12-13-2008, 11:34 AM Leave him alone. his only 21.
GoatBoner-2k9 12-17-2008, 04:36 PM ****ing hell not his fault he lost to prescott. if he had fough prescott in his prime it would have been the opposite result. prescott was just picking on the all time great Khan in his old age when he should be retired after cementing his legacy over beating the current p4p Gomez... lol
xx

GoatBoner-2k9 12-18-2008, 01:09 PM Prescott is not ****. he is a futer HOF.

bigdan 12-20-2008, 05:56 AM kahn should never have been main event on box office £15 for someone wiv 16 bum fights to his name. i bet prescott couldnt believe his luck a chance to prove him self in front of that many viewers should do wonders ror his career.

yep your right people should'nt use hs age against him, the fact he's **** is all you need to know.

Nah I don't think hes ****... ****? Look at 3/4 of the boxers in the world.... Hes just massively over-rated, many people in the usa and stuff see him as a superstar along the lines of calzaghe and hatton.
ironalex 12-24-2008, 07:11 AM hes 22 years old, and?! wilfred benitez won the WORLD title at 17! whatever happens now, amirs chin will still be dodgy. he still has not worked on things such as inside fighting, all he does is tie the guy up and look for the referee to break them(some refs wont allow this and allow fighters to work in the inside), khan still an amateur fighter.
Wyson 12-24-2008, 07:15 AM i do agree with this statement...people need time to grow in boxing and build their fan base so no one should be saying anything
.:PRINCE:. 12-24-2008, 01:16 PM People always talk about Prescott being a 'decent' fighter and even he beat Khan, he's clearly more than that, and in that match it was definately Khan the underdog. The only reason people bash Khan is because nobody knows much of Prescott here in England, but back in Columbia he's had a heck of a record (check his stats) and is much better than Khan's was at the time. Even still, yes, a 1st round knockout is pretty embarassing, but mistakes happen to everyone. Give the kid a break.
I do however blame Frank Warren abit becuase they make Khan seem like a golden boy, but he's really got quite a step to get there first.

amirs 22 u stupid **** and get off his dick hell be great in the end thats all that matters
JuanDan 01-15-2009, 11:38 AM The trouble with khan , he believes in his own hype, it wasn't that long ago he was telling every one he was ready for a world title (LOL) world title! he hasn't fought the best of the UK or Europe. Khan had a name as a top amateur so did Audley Harrison, but as a pro he's not going to make it, he can't take a punch, come on guys don't be taken in by all the hype, Khan still fights like an amateur, frank Warren will milk him as long as he can.
