At least your dog easts something that tastes good LOL...The problem is that if he does get sick.....I have to rush him to the vet. Chocolate is like poison to a dog. I'm too sick to go anywhere. Allison 12-11-2003, 11:10 AM Keep an eye on him, chocolate is really bad for cats and dogs.. Allison 12-11-2003, 11:11 AM Nevermind, you already know that. nance 12-11-2003, 11:15 AM Originally posted by Green Iguana Queen Nevermind, you already know that. Calling the vet as soon as they open...problem is, I don't know when he ate it. It was almost a whole pound.....minus a few pieces. He's also a BIG dog. HE weighs close to 100 lbs. Allison 12-11-2003, 11:17 AM pic? nance 12-11-2003, 11:28 AM Originally posted by Green Iguana Queen pic? Sure.....gimmee a few minutes. I called the vet, the good news is his weight is a positive factor. It takes 2 lbs of dark chocolate to build up any kind of toxicity in him. The box was of the assorted variety and wasn't pure chocolate. So he had maybe 1/3 of a pound of chocolate. We just have to keep an eye on him and have him treated if he shows symptoms. He's eaten it before, just not quite as much. Whoremaster B 12-11-2003, 11:33 AM Doesnt grass calm a dogs stomach? nance 12-11-2003, 11:37 AM I forgot how to do this....can someone walk me thru posting a pic. I have it hosted on Shutterfly. nance 12-11-2003, 11:38 AM Originally posted by Whoremaster B Doesnt grass calm a dogs stomach? Yes it does. And he has all the grass he can eat out there.....where he's staying until I'm sure he doesn't have the runs. Bella 12-11-2003, 11:39 AM MCM, what kind of chocolates did he eat? My pup drank almost an entire chocolate milkshake that she knocked off the table. I was freaking out and called the vet to ask them what to do. They told me that she should be okay, that the chocolate that is harmful is baker's chocolate. I would keep an eye on him though. nance 12-11-2003, 11:41 AM http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b3cc30b3127cce8380d11f1b060000001610 He's a Cheasepeake Bay Retriever. Smart dog, but yet, such a dumb dog. Don't eat mom's chocolates. It makes her mad. handjobs4dollars 12-11-2003, 11:41 AM If your dog pukes can you post pics of that. nance 12-11-2003, 11:44 AM Originally posted by Bella MCM, what kind of chocolates did he eat? Yeah, the vet said he should be fine since he's so big and it was a box of the mixed kind. Not baker's chocolate or anything like that. I have two kids home today (sick) so I have help if he gets bad. He's D's (my son) dog and he'll keep a close eye on him. nance 12-11-2003, 11:45 AM Originally posted by Gman If your dog pukes can you post pics of that. I'm too sick to handle that. We have people telling us all the time that he scares them, which surprises us because he's so sweet. He must be very protective if we aren't around, which is nice to know. He had surgery for a completely ruptured ACL (knee) over the summer and he tore it again. He's gonna have to live with the pain now, because $1500 is too much to spend a second time around for the same thing. He is the funniest dog....throw a ball, and you two are best friends for life. He loves tennis balls and loves the beach. Can't get him out of the water when we take him. He gets pissed at other dogs when they keep chasing him, but won't go very far into the water....lol. They were bred for water..... handjobs4dollars 12-11-2003, 11:52 AM Originally posted by Dogg^x0 Adam bwhahahahhaha Bella 12-11-2003, 11:54 AM That's awesome. I like big dogs. I have a beagle though. He looks like a nice doggy. It sounds like he might benefit from having his food and water bowls raised up so he doesn't have to bend down or lay down to use them. All the larger breeds, injured or not, save a lot of wear and tear on their joints this way. I don't mean to preach, but I LOVE dogs, and have become sort of a student of training and caring for them the last ten years. nance 12-12-2003, 02:54 AM Originally posted by computer fogie He looks like a nice doggy. Any suggestions to help out are always listened to. That could be a good project for my son and I to work on. We could build him a little table for his food. We use a HUGE bucket for water, so he usually doesn't have to bend over that far. I have seen them in the stores and have thought about it, but I'll stop thinking and start doing.....thanks.:) nance 12-12-2003, 03:01 AM We had a queensland healer.....he was so funny. He never grew bigger than a 6-7 month old dog in his breed. He had a liver shunt that stunted his growth and eventually took his life. Before we knew what was wrong with him, while he was very ill, he got up one night and kept walking in circles around the house. I finally got up and followed him into the kitchen where he put his nose onto the dishwasher. I finally smelled what he did....something was burning inside. I opened it and found a wooden spoon had fallen out of the tray and was on the heating element. I don't think the house would have burnt down from that, but the fact that he would not rest until I fixed the problem was just amazing to me. He was also the type of dog that all dogs loved. I had a neighbor call me up once and tell me she came home to find JAG in her house. Her dogs let him come in thru the doggie door!! LOL All the neighbors knew JAG. It was amazing how other dog owners told me that JAG is the only dog their dogs allowed in the yard or house. He was an amazing dog....we only had him for 3 months.
