View Full Version : Who are the most over-rated rappers out there?
Purity 12-10-2003, 03:37 PM now before you say everyone, just think of the extreme examples. my vote goes to 50 cent & obie trice. i haven't heard **** for talent displayed in any of their jams so far.
reason for over-ration?
1) people desperately wanna see the west-coast make a return.
2) anything given to you by eminem & dre will appear ideal
3) people still lookin to find a good ol' tupac replacement
4) the rap community would LOVE for eminem's black underlings to replace his white ass for being the latest & greatest thing.

Mr. Beelzebub 12-10-2003, 04:02 PM 50 Cent is from Queens and Obie Trice is from Detroit. : - !
Most overrated rappers:
Nelly
DOGGx0 12-10-2003, 04:03 PM i think you're trippin on 50 cent. i personally like his and obie's ****. 50 has been out for a while and basically sucked, but with dre's westcoast beats and funk... he has made a comeback and came out with some good ****. obie is'nt THAT good, but he is decent... over-rated.... probably.
my list would start here: (and i'm sure more to follow)
1) Snoop Dogg (he WAS good when he first came out... but ever since the NO LIMIT tranformation... he came out with some lame ass beats and raps half-ass to what he used to.)
2) Master P and his million of cronies ("P" came out with "Bout It Bout It", which was an awesome track for them ghetto mo****az.... sick ass beat and eerthang, but thats about it for him. I still have trouble understanding how he is not only thee most successful and richest rap artist/ label, but he is one of the richest men in the US)
3) Mac 10 - sucks
4) G-Unit - they are okay, waaay over-rated, but better than Eminem's "D-12".
5) D-12 - i can't wait for the day that eminem realizes that friends or not..... these guys suck, especially when he is not in their songs.
6) Redman - do people still buy his solo albums? even when method man is'nt colaborating with him? ****. hes next to fall off into the "has-been" list.
7) Nelly - is he a rapper or a singer?
8) Ja Rule - refer to Nelly.
as far as the reasoning for over-ration....
1)west-coast rap needs to make a return. our rappers and our beats have a better flow than east-coast rap, dont try to argue it.
2) eminem and dre will ALWAYS bring someone to the top of the chart, regardless of who they are.
3) nobody can ever replace tupac. the man is a legend.
4) nobody in the near future will come close to replacing eminem. he is thee best rapper, white or black, out there right now. he just brought a whole new bag of tricks to the rap game and i see him and his image staying around for a long time.
good topic. i finally got to post something worth posting. thank you.

yeah but it's like sports team drafts. if yer picked to represent a west-coast label then you're basically representing west coast. tupac wasn't from cali either.
Aaron Bizarre 12-10-2003, 04:10 PM I hate Jay-Z. His rhymes always suck and when he was sampling Annie was the most atrocious **** I have ever heard.
Purity 12-10-2003, 04:12 PM dogg- good picks but just because 50 cent & obie now have good production doesn't mean that they're better rappers.....just that their jams sound better. if you take out the beats & production then it's just horrible to hear these ****ers with absolutely NO flowing skills whatsoever
Tha Playa 12-10-2003, 04:13 PM Puff Daddy, Nelly, Master P, Mack 10, LL Cool J.

that annie **** was ****ing awful. i'm not much of a fan of his but i will admit that he can do some pretty good futuristic flows from time to time.
Stain 12-10-2003, 04:15 PM i think redman owns
Mr. Beelzebub 12-10-2003, 04:18 PM Jay-Z has some ****, specially in his Can't knock the Hustla LP; that album is just plain sick.
I think the whole No Limit roster is ****ing garbage. Hip Hop is practically in a state of comma right now.

gotta disagree w/ this one. he's not hardcore but never claimed to be either. mad respect to him for being the ultimate ladies man in his style AND for being the only rapper from back in the 80's to still have this strong of a career.
DOGGx0 12-10-2003, 04:22 PM 50 has skills. maybe you're right about taking the beat away, i don't know. however, sometimes a better production brings out the best in you. kinda like motivation at work.... if its given in a way you've never experienced, you tend to produce better results.

yeah but a good music act is going to have lots of natural talent to start with. good production just makes it ****ing awesome. a good example of this is All Eyez on Me. with all the underground rappers out there in all these underground flowing and freestyle competitions....i just think that 50cent is the luckiest muther****er on the planet for having Em and Dre behind him. he definetely doesn't deserve them.

LMAO!!!! i never realized that!
Tha Playa 12-10-2003, 04:37 PM I didn't say I thought he sucked, I just think he is way over-rated. Some think he is the G.O.A.T., which makes him way over-rated in my book because to me he isn't close to the greatest.
Aaron Bizarre 12-10-2003, 04:43 PM the overrated is my feelings for Jay-Z. He writes alot of lyrics that are good for other people I just dont liek the ones he writes for himself. DMX took a fall after "Its Dark and hell is hot.."
Leather 12-10-2003, 04:50 PM I don't know a lot about Rap but IMO Nelly is really bad, I hate this guy...
Long life to Run DMC!!!!! It's like that!!! :fu:
realkaps 12-10-2003, 08:49 PM Nelly is the most overrated fallowed closely by Chingy. LL blows. Redman is ****in sweet, get the blackout album. 50 is okay but overrated, Obie is better than 50. **** Nelly, and all of the St. Lunatics, except Murphy Lee, he is the only one with any talent. I hate rap singers....

Whoremaster B 12-11-2003, 09:25 AM Ja-rule for overrated crown.
Takes song about ladies + uses female vocalist for chorus + then spits out non flowin gibberish ( repeat ) = Ja rules' portfolio
Aaron Bizarre 12-11-2003, 10:08 AM I would like to smash his face in with a hammer. everytime I turn on teh radio I hear some girl singing with Ja -Rule just yelling in teh background.
