View Full Version : Haye slams Enzo's MMA talk
2FastByFar 12-05-2008, 09:36 PM David Haye responds to Enzo Maccarinelli's MMA talk (http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/ufc/article2004422.ece).
The English heavyweight was angered by comments Maccarinelli made in The Sun in which he claimed he would "fancy knocking out" Britain's top UFC fighter Michael Bisping if they were to face off against each other.
Haye said: "Believing you can be a star in the UFC just because you're good with your fists is like a cricketer expecting to win Wimbledon just because he's good at hitting a ball with a bat.
"Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts are two completely different disciplines and it would be foolish to expect to switch between the two and dominate.
"If Enzo Maccarinelli and Michael Bisping were to meet in the Octagon it would be a no contest - Bisping would beat Maccarinelli 10 times out of 10.

Gift of Gab 12-05-2008, 09:55 PM when i saw the thread title, i thought it was enzo calzaghe lol
YUHHHHHHH! 12-05-2008, 11:36 PM Wow, a professional boxer said that. Maybe JulioCesaChavez will stop trying to flaunt his ePeen.
Napalm Death 12-06-2008, 05:29 AM enzo could knock him out if he could get close enough. But i doubt hell beat him.
Savino 12-06-2008, 08:47 AM Bisping said he would beat Enzo quicker than David Haye would. let's set up the fight, Enzo v Bisping.

Thats a good comment by Haye, ive always thought that the majority of pro boxers have respect for MMA.

I would say MMA fighters have more respect for Boxers than Boxers do for MMA fighters.
Haye is spot on here. I'd love to suck his ****.

He couldn't in MMA. I guarantee you the first shot Enzo takes without boxing gloves, he's shook.

He's got mad respect for MMA as a whole. His dad was a former karate champion and instructor, and he has done judo and Jiu-Jitsu before. I've seen him at a fair few Cage Rage events here in the UK. From what I've heard he wants to pack in boxing once he becomes HW champ and start training for an MMA career.

Interesting stuff, i didnt know any of that.

It's a mutual respect. I can't think of any boxer that disses mma other than Mayweather, but thats expected from him.
johnkraus 12-08-2008, 01:23 AM I would pay to see Haye vs Lesnar. Haye has the power to put him to sleep, and he says he's been working on his jiu jitsu for over 6 years. Right now Haye's got zero chance, but if he seriously works on his ground game it could be a marketable fight. But Lesnar might not still be champ by then.
