A BOXER named Tyson is being promoted as a future world heavyweight champion!
It’s not Iron Mike, though, but Tyson Fury – named after the former champ – who has become the latest British amateur star to turn professional.
Giant Manchester heavyweight Fury agreed terms with promoter Mick Hennessy yesterday.
At 6ft 9in tall and 18 stones, Fury is a former ABA winner who would have been in contention to box at the London 2012 Olympics.
But the 20-year-old, who did not compete at Beijing in August, has followed in the footsteps of gold medallist James DeGale, bronze medallist Tony Jeffries and their fellow Olympians Frankie Gavin and Billy Joe Saunders by entering the pro ranks.
Hennessy, whose shows are screened on ITV, claims Fury could make his paid debut on the undercard of Nottingham’s Carl Froch against Canadian Jean Pascal for the WBC super-middleweight title in Nottingham on Saturday.
He said: “I’ve got the one I want and he’s the biggest and most exciting professional signing in British boxing.
“He could make his debut on Saturday but it depends upon his medical and registration.
“He’s got better potential than all the Olympic boxers. I wasn’t interested in any of them.
“Tyson is an aggressive fighter and a throwback to Ali and Larry Holmes and he has a brilliant jab.
“As long as he stays focused he’s destined to be a genuine world heavyweight champion.
“This is the best heavyweight to turn pro since Lennox Lewis, anywhere in the world.”
Two Clips 12-04-2008, 12:02 AM Never heard of him. Is he really that good?
American_Ninja 12-04-2008, 12:46 AM Why can't he be from the USA?

He will get a lot of exposure as he is on free TV and the UK love a good heavyweight, I am looking forward to seeing how well he does hopefully he will be on the Froch card on Saturday.
Iamnotausername 12-04-2008, 08:39 AM He deserves to be champ just for having such a ****in cool name!
LDJB81 12-04-2008, 08:58 AM his father was Gypsy John Fury who lost to Henry Akinwande for the British heavyweight title in the 90s. he was also a well known bare knuckle fighter or so ive read. he then named his son after Mike Tyson!!
Pretty Boy1 12-04-2008, 09:42 AM I'm excited to see his first fight. Here's a short film made about him!

LDJB81 12-04-2008, 10:19 AM he's only 20 ffs lets see how he goes. thats young for a heavyweight, he moves very well for a big man and has an awesome jab. would have been nice to have seen him stay amateur until 2012 but the lure of cash turned him.
Decypher 12-04-2008, 02:57 PM Here's a short film made about him!

Decypher 12-04-2008, 09:11 PM He turned pro about 6 months ago.
I don't think so. He thought about turning pro, but then went back on it:
TYSON Fury has ditched his plans to go professional and aims to go all out for gold in London 2012.
The 19-year-old Wythenshawe boxer announced he was quitting the amateur ranks out of sheer disappointment at not being given a chance of a place in the Great Britain boxing team for Beijing.
He was even pencilled in to make his pro debut on next month's Manchester Evening News Arena show featuring Amir Khan.
But Fury avidly watched the avalanche of British successes in China, including his super-heavyweight rival David Price's progression to a bronze medal.
And with the GB team preparing to reinstate his elite funding - he is seen as a major medal prospect for the Games in four years' time - Fury has decided to stick with the vest and headguard.

Now he has changed his mind again, and decided to go pro.

He got fuced over for pricey so what would be the point? Of course the man got to work for a living! I bet with all the bull**** politics the pro fight with him and Pricey never happens. You are right n that 20 is too young to discredit him. Are there any good quality vids available of him fighting? I don;t like pikey's but lets have a look.
LDJB81 12-05-2008, 05:54 AM theres nothing on Google video. the only fight ive seen was the ABA final and that was on BBC but cant find it anywhere on the net.
Rocky. 12-05-2008, 08:50 AM Do you think the bookies will give you a bet on him being world champion in the next 10 years:boxing:

I don't think so! Ironmike2008 has never said he was a world class talent like me, so what is your point? I have and I've gone on about my blinding speed, power and sheer athleticism with my 1000 press ups a day. I doubt this fat overhyped ****er can manage that! If he was in my division I would :boxing:
What the ****'s it to you anyway if I am exceedingly talented or not? You limey's just sound like insecure bumboys when you get all hot and bothered about my boasting. Mind your ownf ****ing business and don't hate on my jackets too! Lol. I just bought a €700 Maharishi coat today as back up for just incase it rains :booty:
Freedom. 12-10-2008, 11:03 PM I downloaded his fight and watched it tonight.
I doubt whether Tyson Fury will go very far, he wasn't even in shape for his first pro fight. He's just a big man, I don't see much boxing talent in him.
But I may be wrong, he may turn out okay.

I agree 100%.
Perhaps he will improve, but at the moment he reminds me of Tye Fields a bit. Hopefully his punch resistance will turn out to be a bit better at least.
mickey malone 05-01-2009, 07:16 PM Looks quite average.. Funny when he runs to..

His conditioning and chin haven't been tested yet, but I think he's a potential British champion at least, and that could be very soon. So far, he is fairly aggressive and entertaining to watch anyway imo.
marciieBOY 05-02-2009, 02:11 PM People are forgetting the best thing about tyson fury
