Can someone tell me why RJJ is such an attraction? I've never been a fan, i know about him. But why is RJJ made out to be something supreme?

.Only the second ever man to be win the Middlweight Crown and then go on to win a Heavyweight title. (Other fighter being Bob Fitzsimons)
.4 weight wolrd Champion.
.Olympic Silver Medalist but in reality a gold medalist because a fixed fight cost him in which there was no dout he won.
.At one point was P4P best fighter in the world.
.In his prime took people breath away with unique but breathtaking way of fighitng.
.His best wins come over Hopkins, Toney, Hill, McCallum, Hill, Ruiz, Tarver,Trinidad. Also beat other good fighters.
Only downpoint was will be getting rembered as a caution fighter, not taking enough risks.
Ivansmamma 12-12-2008, 12:39 PM Roy beats everyone above him on the list except Ali, Forman, Holmes, and maybe Dempsey and Sugar Ray.
Southpaw16BF 12-12-2008, 01:16 PM Roy beats everyone above him on the list except Ali, Forman, Holmes, and maybe Dempsey and Sugar Ray.
Pretty bold statement, and you would have to look at all the fighters styles a above him and looked at them in there prime, and how the fight would of went styles wise.
To be honest even do Jones was a great figher and a future Hall of Famer you said like it was nothing and you disrepected alot of legends above him etc Michael Spinks, Charley Burley, Joe Frazier ,Marvin Hagler, Ezzard Charles, Carlos Monzon Harry Greb and many more great fighters.
By the sounds of it you don't no alot about history and the great fighters down the years, and you've seen a couple of Roy Jones fights in his prime ''and thought wow he's unbeliveable against fighers like Glen Kelly, Ricard Hall, and then thought no one can beat him

Yeah, i have to admit i tried to provoke a little and skipped to mention a few names. I see Roy beating Louis mainly based on the Louis vs Conn fight, Jones does what Conn does only better. I think he would beat Holyfield and Maybe Marciano to, he would be real hard to catch for Rocky. I think Spinks could give Roy a hard fight. I have to admit i know close to nothing about Ezzard Charles and Monzon. Archie Moore i think would be competetive against anyone below 200 lbs.

No problem, yeah I guess with Conn giving Louis trouble with his movement and quick feet Jones mat of coursed Louis problems. Charles and Monzon were brillant fighters worth having a good research on them, wil post some articles and fights to you if you want to really have a good look at them.
Ivansmamma 12-12-2008, 02:12 PM No problem dude, yeah i guess with Conn giving Louis trouble with his movement and quick feet Jones would of had a good chance, he would of had to beaware of Louis power do.Charles and Monzon were brillant fighters worth having a good research on them, wil post some articles and fights to ya if ya want to really have a good look at them.
Would be great i you could post some fights or information about Monzon.

Louis probably took Conn lightly, given the size difference, and drained himself to get below 200lb, because he didn't want to be accused of beating up a little guy. Even so, the end result was Conn stretched out on the canvas for a ten count, and it's debatable whether Jones was better than Conn.
I can't see any scenario where Roy beats Joe Frazier. Greb, Hagler, Spinks, Tunney, Moore, Monzon and Charles would all be a much stiffer test than anyone he's faced before. Roy was damn talented and I'm not saying he can't beat them on a given night, but they certainly aren't to be blithely dismissed as an easy W on Roy's record.
dde91 12-12-2008, 04:23 PM Roy beats everyone above him on the list except Ali, Forman, Holmes, and maybe Dempsey and Sugar Ray.
Roy gets smashed by Hagler
deemo 12-12-2008, 05:26 PM and roy gets beat by some below him too, mainly tyson and foreman.
is this list from 2002?

I know RJJ is a very talented boxer, but do you think beat John Ruiz is enough prove that we would be a competitive Heavyweight and would be able to win or give problem to joe louis?. John Ruiz is not at that level i think.
pbftxrs316 12-12-2008, 09:46 PM mayweather is top 50 no doubt, this list is missing pretty boy. and i'll be happy to explain why to anybody who has a problem with it. what he accomplished in 10 years is amazing, and only hearns can argue that.

What, after a career of nothing but WBC titles, and failure to meet many of his best peers or unify a single division? There are at least 50 fighters in history whose accomplishments and resumes surpass Mayweather's.
So my question is, who gets booted out of the top 50 to make way for Floyd?

No i never said ''win'', but yes maybe a problems, and don't bring just because he only beat ''Ruiz, Michael Spinks went up and beat the number 1 heavyweight in Larry Holmes in his first heavyweight bout, and he never just beat Ruiz he whiped washed him and looked brillant doing it.
And yes i think maybe Jones could cause Louis problems and especaily if Jones could fight Louis in his era because he could come in even lighter when he fought Ruiz, he could come his LHW weight or around 180 so he would be even faster, and because Jones would be so scared of Louis's power i think he would be extra fast and make sure his reflexes are extra quick, And Louis was very flat footed and a slow mover and if you look at his career when he fought quick footed and hands fighters he sometimes struggled etc Conn, Walcott, Charles.
So yes I think Jones could cause him problems, and yes Louis has easily got the power to KO Jones but you have to hit him clean and in is prime that was very hard to do. So yes Louis may come out the victor put i think Jones does cause's him problems.
Southpaw16BF 12-12-2008, 11:31 PM is this list from 2002?
Yes..........

This list was made in 2002, maybe that is why he is not consider.

Good point. I think in this Fantasy Fight if the fight is for 15 rounds, that would be a problem for RJJ, Louis has to work the body to slow him down too. RJJ has a reach of 74" and Louis has a reach of 76". I put my money to Louis.

Yeah a 15 round fight could work in Louis's favour aswell as he would have more time to catch Jones and wear him down.
As Louis once said ''They can run but they can't hide'' Don't think reach would play a huge factor there is only 2 inches between them Jones ''74'' and Louis ''76''. Conn's reach was only ''72½“, Charles's reach was only 73“and Walcott reach was only 74“, so Jones has more reach than Conn and Charles and is even with Walcott, and these all caused him trouble and reach didn't play a big factor.
PED User 12-13-2008, 07:01 PM Pryor is too high. Sanchez a bit too high as well. Hearns is too low.
MAG6333 12-15-2008, 05:24 AM Duran is too high and Hearns too low in my opinion. Hearns knocked out Duran and fought and beat more legends.
KostyaTszyu44 12-15-2008, 06:46 AM Duran is too high and Hearns too low in my opinion. Hearns knocked out Duran and fought and beat more legends.
whaaat.....
duran has a better resume than hearns, and he beat more legends
(duran actually managed to beat leonard) while hearns' run up the weights was just as impressive as durans, durans longevity at championship level is a big up for him.....at 38 he won the middleweight title off barkely, who knocked hearns out
i think duran is ranked higher because:
1. he managed to beat leonard
2. he made his run up the weights when he was past his true prime, and still did very well
3. he was still fighting for world titles at 47 years old
4. he probably has a better resume than hearns, and he also beat the guy who KO'd hearns
5. he went the distance with hagler, who knocked tommy out
6. he was durable as hell, like was mentioned above, who is still fighting for major belts at 47??? i cant think of anyone at that age or around it besides big george and bhop...and the most incredible thing is duran wasnt like george who had a short career, and a long lay off, and he wasnt a defensive guy like b-hop who turned pro late and hadnt taken much punishment.....he was an aggressive fighter who turned pro at 16 and had been through the meat grinder...had been KO'd, gone up in weight, dramatic highs and lows...and yet he fought at championship level from the 70's until the 90's
thats crazy, and thats the main reason he is ranked so high
although i agree hearns is ranked too low, he shouldnt be above duran, and duran deserves his spot
Brother Blues 12-15-2008, 09:01 AM Gee...no Klitschkos, aren't they the greatest of all time???
Kid McCoy 12-15-2008, 09:35 AM Duran is too high and Hearns too low in my opinion. Hearns knocked out Duran and fought and beat more legends.
Put Hearns in with a hard-punching light-heavyweight who has a a 12" reach advantage and a 6" height advantage and see how long he lasts. Duran went 15 competitive rounds with Hagler, who sparked Hearns in three. Duran beat Leonard, who also KO'd Hearns. Duran beat Barkley, who both KO'd and decisioned Hearns. Duran dominated his best division more thoroughly than Hearns did his. It's also worth bearing in mind that Duran was 80-odd fights into his career and 3 or 4 divisions above his peak weight when facing these guys.
genialus75 01-20-2009, 06:35 AM im no boxing expert nor someone who claims extensive boxing historical knowledge but is there anyone on this list fought in five different decades except duran? this fact plus championships in different classes and a resume that is nothing short of legendary should put duran as the man at the top of any greatest fighters list... just my opinion...
them_apples 01-20-2009, 12:42 PM pretty stupid list
McGoorty 09-12-2011, 06:39 PM Roy beats everyone above him on the list except Ali, Forman, Holmes, and maybe Dempsey and Sugar Ray.
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha,....... YOU'RE FUNNY.
