George Foreman Quits Job As HBO Boxing Announcer

HOUSTON, Dec 04, 2003 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Boxing great, preacher and businessman, George Foreman, announced today that he is leaving his career as a boxing announcer behind him to spend more time with his wife and family. Foreman worked for HBO Sports for twelve years as an expert analyst.
"Those years were very happy for me," Foreman said. "HBO brought me into the living rooms of millions fans across the country. I want to thank my broadcast partners Jim Lampley and Larry Merchant for their expertise and boxing insight. Most especially, I would like to thank my good friend, Ross Greenberg for taking such good care of me at HBO. He is a great leader, friend and businessman. I will cherish my time spent working with him."
Foreman has ten children and lives in Houston with his wife, Mary. "My son George was New England champion football player this year. I didn't make it to one game. That is when I decided that I needed to make a career change."
With Salton Inc., Foreman continues to promote his famous George Foreman Grill(TM) and other products in the outdoor grill, grill pans and rotisserie category. Together, they bring new ideas to grilling and promote healthy eating.
As always, Foreman gives inspirational speeches to children, students and families about healthy lifestyles. His message will be the same -- middle age is not a death sentence and family comes first.
