why do you hate biggie?
Tha_Greatest 12-01-2008, 05:55 PM why do you hate biggie?
Obvious reason, Im a Pac fan, Biggie to me was a great lyricist and rapper, but i never liked the fact he was considered the greatest by many with just two albums, Also i didnt like that most of the fact that he made a hard to find, unreleased song after pac died that he said something like'who cares if 2pac is dead', i dont remember which magazine i read that off of, Biggie is a legend, even though he only has 2 real albums(1 came after he died). I dont exactly hate pig like i hate floyd fans or flawless, RJJ, i hated him, Now i dont, Biggie is in that type of situation with me, except he died and i wound up just hating him cause in my opinion he never released anything or did anything to make me change my mind on him, To me ,i wouldnt even consider Biggie a legend ,if i was to be in charge of voting people in to a all music genre hall of fame, only in rap, since rap has very low standards for rap fans considering who is, and isnt great

Biggie might have only released two albums, but they were two classic albums. Hes a legend/great, because he dropped to all time albums and his talent was undeniable.
Do you have that song where biggie say that? that's the first time i've heard such a thing...
VaBoriKua 2.0 12-01-2008, 06:23 PM I liked biggie but he wasnt the greatest of all time that would be PAC
Mr. Mef 12-01-2008, 06:24 PM ^Co-sign. Pac is the greatest.
No disrespect to the other greats...
I don't rank Big or Pac the greatest, but the one advantage Big fans have over pac fans is that they can actually give you reasons for why they think Big was the best. Pac fans just expect you to except that Pac was the best because he was Pac.
Mr. Mef 12-01-2008, 06:53 PM Pac fans just expect you to except that Pac was the best because he was Pac.
Jay-Z is my favorite rapper of all time.
but heres why pac is the greatest...
was there any style pac didn't do great? to me he punched hard from every angle, whether it be political or hard, whether it be party time or deep. There no style he didn't master. Pac was able to be political, yet still be a commercial success too.
Plus his flow was amazing... Also he had three classic albums and a bunch of very good ones along with them.
KILLA RIGHT 12-01-2008, 07:47 PM Biggie doesn't deserve a movie, life after death was a pop album. He wasn't a icon he doesnt deserve a flick like pac. Very overated mc...Pun>>biggie

Biggie was THAT DUDE...
His flow was untouchable... His voice was an instrument, and he perfected his game to the highest level...
To say that biggie is not even a legend... is honestly the most ignorant thing i have read on this hip hop forum...

Couldn't have said any better!!! To have 2 albums & be considered the greatest of all time shows his influence & undeniable skill on the mic.

I was skeptical about the movie at first until I saw Angela Bassett playing his mother which to me added some legitimacy to it.

I don't even think it's fair to compare the two. it is impossible to legitimately compare any east coast rapper to a west coast rapper in the 90's because both sounds were so much different, especially Biggie and Pac's. It really just comes down to personal taste. Like for myself, i prefer Biggie's flow to Pac's and i enjoy the east coast production of the 90's far more then that of the west coast, therefore i am more of a Biggie fan. They are both obviously 2 of the best rappers to have ever lived based upon how largely they both influenced hip hop, but who's was better? who knows. they are both legendary. their music is timeless. i can listen to Gimmie The Loot and Keep Your Head Up with the same enthusiasm that i had when i first heard the tracks, and 40 years from now i will probably be able to do the same.
But in regards to those bashing the Notorious BIG's status because he only released 2 albums...what about someone like Big L? the number of albums released has nothing to do with the quality of the ones that made it to your CD player.
Two Clips 12-02-2008, 11:32 AM I was skeptical about the movie at first until I saw Angela Bassett playing his mother which to me added some legitimacy to it.Yeah I feel you...and "Antwan Fisher" is going to play Diddy.

I'm not sure if you mean style or subject matter. He wasn't the most diverse when it comes to subject matter, infact in that latter part of his career his songs seem rather redundant to me: I'm a thug product of a corrupt society. he never really even examines the subject that much, he just repeats it over and over again. Diversity has always been his weakness in my opinion. He did have a little more diversity at the start of his career though. You're right about him being able to make hard songs and party songs well.
Big could do that too but not alot of rappers can.
wow...

Ofcourse there are artists that had more of an impact on New York Hip hop than Big, but ofcourse you're right, Big has definately earned his place.

n rap, hes a legend, in music in whole(all genre), hes another dead rapper, thats me being politically incorrect, 2 Pac is the only rapper that died that truly impacted all the music industry,
new yorkers and easterners can get insulted and say im full of shit, but only reason big got attention after his death was because he was murdered right after pac, his arch rival
Rest in peace, 2 Pac
Kelly Robinson 12-06-2008, 04:33 PM I don't know if I'll be interested in watching this. I was and still am a hardcore Tupac fan. Never cared about BIG.

Nah, that's just because you were preoccupied with Pac's death. Clearly no rapper's reputation has ever been benefitted more from their premature death than Tupac Shakur.
One significant difference between Big and Pac when they were alive is that Big was able to become a sensation on the basis of pure talent alone while living a boring life. Pac 's career was always propped up by controversy, hype and scandal. We're talking everything from rape charges, to shooting a copper, to baseball bat assualts, to beefs with other rappers. Face it, 80% of the guys' career success was based on image. Then he was murdered and became immortal. Anybody that thinks he would have half the status he has now if he had not thrived on controversy when he was alive, and had not been murdered is seriously deceiving themselves..
On the other hand, Big simply made good music.

are you ****ing serious?!?!?!?!?!??? Without controversy Pac woulda still been larger than life cuz its not the rape charges, fights, beefs thats talked about now... its the quality of the music that man made.
dudes music has touched people in the rap world greater than any other rapper has.... dont get me wrong, Biggie was imo one of if not the greatest lyricist to ever touch a mic but I hold Pac as the greatest rapper because rapping isnt all about lyrics, its about touching people and no other rapper touched people like Pac
I don't know if I'll be interested in watching this. I was and still am a hardcore Tupac fan. Never cared about BIG.
:lol1: me too... for the longest i never ****ed with Biggie just off the strength of the beef they had, but slowly but surely i started listening to him and been blown away ever since.... dude was an incredible talent and i'm def going to see the film
but Pac is still #1 :)
hopefully Puff Daddy doesnt come out on this movie as himself cause hes a terrible actor, i liked how Puff Daddy played the part in monsters Ball but thats it, Hopefully Biggie dont sound jamaican in this movie
