View Full Version : Matthew Franklin vs Marvin Johnson warp1432 11-25-2008, 08:05 PM I just watched this fight....Second best fight I've ever seen. Holy **** it was incredible. PED User 11-25-2008, 08:24 PM Did you get the link I posted? The rematch is good too. Not quite as action-packed, but dramatic. warp1432 11-25-2008, 10:26 PM Yeah I downloaded it. I'll probably watch the rematch either later tonight or tomorrow. What I loved about this fight is I didn't know much about it going in. I knew who Saad Muhammad was obviously, but all I've heard about it was that it was a classic, but had no idea who the winner is. I wasn't scoring it, but it seemed pretty close, and my god the last round. That was like an old Vazquez-Marquez 3 round 12, except even more dramatic. My god what an awesome fight. PED User 11-25-2008, 10:37 PM Nigel Collins said both Johnson and Saad got $2,500 for this bout. Gross pay. :( When boxing writers talk about Philly wars, this is like the quintessential one. warp1432 11-25-2008, 11:16 PM Nigel Collins named it as the greatest fight he ever saw. Him being from Philly, no wonder he loves this fight. Silencers 11-25-2008, 11:18 PM That was a great fight, Saad Muhammad was involved in a lot of great fights that don't get the attention they deserve. warp1432 11-25-2008, 11:20 PM That was a great fight, Saad Muhammad was involved in a lot of great fights that don't get the attention they deserve. Yeah I was watching one of the Qawi fights and that was great too. I think it was the first one. Silencers 11-25-2008, 11:39 PM Yeah I was watching one of the Qawi fights and that was great too. I think it was the first one. Muhammad wasn't the same after the first Qawi fight, second fight with Lopez, second fight with Johnson, his fight with Kates etc. were all great fights. Kelvin Seabrooks reminded me of Saad. black.ink 11-28-2008, 01:55 PM Muhammed is one of the most unapreciated fighters to have ever stepped into the ring. He put his life into every fight of his, even in his decline. La_Vibora 11-29-2008, 03:44 AM Somebody please tell me they have a link to this fight somewhere, I have been looking through some old tapes trying to find it, but couldn't find it. I was actually talking about this fight the other day on the general board. I liked both the Muhammed's Mathew and Eddie. BTW, does anyone know what happened to James "Great" Scott by any chance? He was convicted of murder and released in 2005. Yeah I knew this, but I was just wondering how life on the outside was working for him. Is he still into boxing somehow, etc. beecherhq 11-30-2008, 07:25 AM I bought Saad Muhammed's career set a few months back and there are some really good fights on it. He put everything he had into those fights and i can't understand why people don't mention him more especially with his background story of being found abandoned in a park at 5 years old, dumped there by his brother. |
