View Full Version : In less than 2 days...I will finish my ****ing uni degrees...
Magic Man 11-23-2003, 09:20 AM Yes, provided I do not fail this final exam, I will have completed both my ****ty degree, a bachelor of computer science, and a bachelor of management.
I will be ****ing free, oh yes I will.
Now I can actually start a proper job to get me some real money, I can finally start seriously doing the groundwork to start my own business, I can now start planning my property investment strategies, I can now start training regularly and start competing.
If I budget correctly, save according to my budget and in tandem with a first home owner's grant and graduation cash from my parents, I will be able to put the downpayment for my first home sometime in the next couple of years, get a couple of people to rent the extra rooms and get them to pay off my mortgage for me.
Yes, very ****ing excited indeed.

Bella 11-23-2003, 12:38 PM I won't graduate until May 2006.
It seems like an eternity away, but it will be here before I know it.

Enjoy college. Do some crazy things that you will not be proud of later in life. Might I suggest a ****o movie or flashing the camera and ending up on girls gone wild?
Bella 11-23-2003, 12:52 PM I'm too classy.

The Jake 11-23-2003, 02:14 PM You will soon be a part of the Real World (tm) then.
You will wonder what it is like to be free, have more spare time than you can poke a stick at, be stuck in a corporate chain, etc.etc. You will also wonder why you left and even consider going back (what you say?? yes eventually).
Truly an end of an era.

seldomTap 11-23-2003, 10:37 PM Magic Man, best you call your local Centrelink (unemployment office for the ignorant) now...beat the rush of high school leavers and uni folks with bits of paper and no life experience...the $265 a fortnight will serve your needs well!
Magic Man 11-24-2003, 01:13 AM Andy, I'm actually going to do that - I'm going to bum around on welfare for 3 months, one of my friends did that after uni :)

seldomTap 11-25-2003, 07:00 PM I wish I had a BA...Bachelor of Attendence
The Jake 11-25-2003, 07:09 PM I still haven't paid back my HECS. If I never come back to Australia I don't think I have to either... woot....
(just kidding, I'm working out the budget then I'm wiring funds back).
- J.
seldomTap 11-25-2003, 07:17 PM I think honestly, your first degree should be free...any post grad stuff should be paid for.
The people who legislated to have uni students pay for degrees all got free education...the hypocrites. If they think it will make it a burden on the institutions, then have less spots in courses. Raise entrance scores, keep the half wits out of uni. Easy
The Jake 11-25-2003, 07:21 PM University degrees used to be free. My mum got hers and only had to pay the yearly tuition or something like that.
Aussie Govt. can't subsidise it anymore. So they came up with HECS (which is better than nothing). Cost of education is MUCH cheaper in Australia and the quality of the teaching I'd say is about the same (certainly not less).
Out here it's all about the money and only some schools have financial assistance. Some companies pay money towards it but this will probably cover SOME of the costs (not all) in most cases. By this I mean like accredited state schools, notIvy league schools.
If you wanna go to Harvard, it's something like 25k-50k USD/year.

The Jake 11-25-2003, 07:24 PM My Computing degree in Australia cost me about $13k Australian.
Out here that same degree would cost about $40k USD. And that's at a typical school.
And the subject material covered on the same courses are just about the same.

Magic Man 11-25-2003, 11:11 PM I plan on faking my death so I dont have to pay the Hecs, which is about $25000.
I will re-emerge as an army Major. My Name will be Hardon, Major Hardon.
The Jake 11-25-2003, 11:14 PM Magic rocks!
