View Full Version : Is David Haye GBs most exciting fighter?

I think so, I used to really enjoy watching Richy Hatton but his recent holding really made him a bore. I never been so excited watching boxing for a while, David Haye really made me like him!

He has it all... explosive power, good reflexes, good speed, and bit of ****iness to add to it all. His chin still isn't proven glass, he got kded once 4 years ago when he was young and arragont.

Thoughts?

I dont rate his defence at all.

He's exciting though and everyone he's fought so far have been frightened to death of his speed.

Would he beat Klits im not sure

Very very exciting, amazing power and speed.

On the negative side, he really doesn't seem to react well to being hit on the chin, he did look ragged tonight when he was clipped.

Also I am concerned about his actual fundamental 'boxing', theres very little feints, little consistent use of the jab, open defense. No basic combination work, only when he has his man 'going'. Come to thing of it nearly every punch is a knockout punch and all that loading up doesn't bode well for distance fights.

Adam Booth is doing an excellent job with him, but just imagine what someone like Manny Steward could do with his basic gifts, he could become an excellent boxer puncher. At the moment its his basic boxing that needs work.

I'd lean towards Haye in a match with Wladimir, but not the Vitali we recently saw destroy Sam Peter.

The most exciting thing about david haye is his haircut.

Is it true Haye's married? If so, she must be a great wife... Cos it looks like he could be bombing ***** like nobody's business.

But yeah, he's the most exciting British fighter since Nigel Benn. Reminds me of Benn a lot, although Benn was more skilled and maybe an even harder hitter P4P. I don't see him beating Vitali at all. Wladmir maybe, if he lands a bomb.

I've always said, Haye is the only Brit that I like. I like his style and the fact that he wants to be tested V the best, rather than become a tomato can champ like some of his fellow countrymen! He is not trying to avoid the best while they are at the top.

This thread is ignorant, everyone knows the rage that is danny williams is, was, and will forever be britains greatest. Williams is closing in on marciano and the top 10 p4p, that adds up to greatness.

If Danny was a blanc the english press would have made out he beat a prime Mike Tyson just like they did with Joe!

Haye is a classy boxer when he puts his mind to it. I just hope he doesn't become obsessed with the one-punch knockout. It WILL be his downfall, just as it has been for countless other fighters who started believing their own press.

I want to see Calslappy fight Haye to avenge the demise of Enzo Macca

Hmm, he probably is. You never know if he's going to come out all guns blazing and knock someone out, or get caught and be knocked out himself.

His fights are usually very exciting.

I find it a lot easier to watch Calzaghe though. You know he'll always win.

Because he will never fight someone on top of their game and would rather wait until they get their pensions

I'd say he's up there with Joe and Ricky but with Joe maybe retiring and Ricky on the decline (although will hopefully pick things up again on Saturday), 2009 could be Haye's year though, really hope he doesn't step in with one of the Klit's next though.

a couple of jacks in the building! we will have our revenge next sunday!

with regards to Haye he is very exiciting and brings alot of power and speed to the lacklustre heavyweight scene. his defense just seems non existant at times tho so I think its only a matter of time before he gets KO'd. I hope he doesnt though!!

Its no bandwagon...... He swings wildly, leaving himself open. His defense is very porous, but hardly noticed because of his offensive blitzkriegs. When things don’t go his way, he has no “Plan B” to his game, only a homerun shot.

David Haye is a VERY exciting fighter to watch, no doubt. He trash talks, has a ton of power which gives the fans plenty of ko's to watch and has a rather poor chin which makes him vulnable..! Yes IMO he's GB's most exciting fighter.

Calslappy avoided so many top fighters in their prime that the likes of fat James Toney, Winky Wright, Hopkins when he just turned 40, and even Glen Johnson had to go AROUND his division to face top comp. Now feel free to proceed with any bull**** about how he looked fantastic and dominated B-Hop in his prime, and beat a prime RJJ! I heard a fat beer bellied Brit saying Calslappy was being avoided by RJJ in his prime and he would have won! he even said it would have been Joe getting the KD's!!

In some ways I actually have more respect for the bum Fatton than I do for overprotected fraud's like Joe. At least Fatty tried and failed. Joe failed to try and even feigned injury against Glen Johnson 3 times. According to Brits logic, Glen Johnson is an even bigger legend than Roy as he managed a KO of a (British definition of ) 'prime' RJJ.

Still you can't take his win against Bernard away from him, Bernard went on to beat a 2 time world champ in Pavlik who everyone thought would batter him.

David Haye has a lethal punch. But I am worried that i have not seen him take a proper punch. Talks a good fight but i dont think he is experienced enough to go in the ring with any of the Klitchko bros' Maybe next year take a couple of fights so he can gain more experience. Dont want to see him make a fool of himself. He needs to slow the pace down a bit.

His somewhat hail mary approach to the heavyweights is interesting at least why hang around, get in and stay in or get out.
Seems fast becoming the british attitude!

I'd say so yeah, both in and out of the ring. Not hard though seeing as his closest competition are utterly boring and lifeless tools.

I look forward to seeing him fight again, I know he's intent on testing himself, dominating and getting out early, but I really hope he decides to pace himself. I think by settling into his weight more, tightening up a few issues and getting used to fighting TALL guys, he could certainly have a fair chance at either K-bro.

There is nothing to take away as he simply did not win. B Hop was punished for being old against a young marquee great white hope! Also the reverse of what happened to Holmes when he went for Sloppianos record is happening here. If Joe continued to fight, expect more robberies!!!

Btw, who is everyone? Not me.
