Is the confederate flag currently percieved as a symbol of hate?

The problem is that alot of people who fly it now, ignorantly mean for it to be a symbol of hate..

Also, there are people who fly it because they are proud of their heritage, and of what it stood for originally..

My point is, yes, today, its considered a symbol of hate by most people. How you take it depends on what the person flying is trying to send as a message.

Dimebag Darrell has it on his Washburn....and It's veeeery cool (the guitar of course, not the flag as a hate symbol)

The flag means nothing to me..but I didn't fight in the war, nor did my ancestors.

But I know historians who view it as a symbol of the confederacy, and there was never anything wrong with that, until at some point, it became a symbol of racism to most.

I'm not arguing that it has bad connotations, I'm just saying that it wasn't always like that.

the south may have lost the war but there is somewhat of a culture down there that has it's own distinct characteristics- unfortunately people stereotype racism and incest into it when there's obviously much more on the positive scale to it. i think the majority of the people waving it are doing it for the appreciation of the good ol' south.

unfortunetly the US school system teaches us that the south fought to keep slavery and that was the banner they fought under. I think most people will have the pro racist misconception.

The question was whether its seen currently as a symbol of hate.

I answered yes, though it wasn't always.

there is truth in that ben,

But as a historian i need to note that there were FREE southern blacks who fought for the confederation.
Also many blacks who fought on the southern side we fighting because after the war - if they won- they would be free men and so there would be means to buy thier family.

just some points.

You can’t feel sorry for someone who’s spirit is broken as you say. Sure they look pitiful and like pieces of **** on the outside to other people, but internally they grow to like it and live with it within their own psych. We do this in bondage situations for slave training, so that’s why I have a very strong view on this. My friend who’s a professional dom was training his new slave and braking her in, so he wrapped her completely up in a black canvas and tied her down with rope, and set her up on the shelf for 24 hours. I think when he pulled her down she came instantly due to her stronghold of training that she just experienced. But I mean you have to keep doing that **** on a regular basis, eventually your slave will be broken and ready to rebuild to your standards and rules. If the training is professionally done, the slave will be completely loyal to you and will want nothing more than to serve you; where freedom in the slaves mind is completely out of the question.
