Is there a possibility that Pacman can one day become President of the Philippines?

Yes, but a lot of work to do.

1. Stop defending the current President Arroyo, she is corrupt and has a worst approval rating than G.W. Bush. He looks like a puppet.

2. Get his college degree legitmately(you can buy a degree there), he lost in a Congressional run because people were saying that he is just a boxer and knows nothing about politics.

3. He has to win a local election first to get experience, people are getting tired of electing movie stars in office.

4. If he can't do anything of the things mentioned above, then he has to cheat. Bribe the commision of elections, buy votes, switch ballots, black propoganda, and bribe the Military and Police. The Philippines is the most corrupt country in Southeast Asia. Cheating in elections and corruption is a way of life.

The people are hungry, they will favor their stomach over the future. It takes as little as 500 pesos($10.00) to buy a vote.

Manny will have a lot of money when he fights De La Hoya. Manny being a millionare, he can buy a lot of votes. He can buy the teachers who count the votes, dagdag-bawas. The watchers. He can buy the authentic copies of the election return from the street. He can buy a "ninja" to switch the votes. He can buy the Comelec Official, the one who certifies the election. He has an advantage compared to other people. There is more than one way to steal an election if you have the money.

But, the rule is, if you are going to run in the Philippines, you don't start with money. You start with programs and a platform to get the votes of people with principle. Then at the last minute, you buy votes so that it trumps the money of the other candidates.

He seems like a man of the people and is always helping his fellow countrymen, especially where he resides at his home. I read he often helps the poor by giving food and other essentials to them.

The heart he has is very big and no doubt he will do everything he can to help his people. Also he is by far the biggest personality the Philippines has ever had.

I would personally like to see him president one day, but after his boxing career is over obviously.

I would like to know why people would disagree. Constructive critism appreciated.

politicians are businessman. business in philippines is politics.

if you have to protect your business you need to be a politician.

they dont care about people around them. they care about themselves.

working here is killing yourself and your family..

many here left and reside or work in other land for good money and living.

It is not about stupidity. Its about hunger. President GMA said that there is no hunger problem in the Philippines. That is because the people are getting used to eating only 1 meal a day instead of the basic 3.

If a rich person waves 500 pesos ($10) to buy a poor persons vote, who can blame them if they take the money just to eat. It is a vicious cycle.

In a land full of superstition and strong religious beliefs, the people are waiting for a Noah. Someone who can fix the country. Where are the options, most of our talented pinoys are abroad. Maybe he/she will come from abroad, maybe it is Pacquiao, maybe Father Ed. Hopefully they can come soon.

I was in the Philippines during the 2007 elections. I saw it with my own eyes. Although not in South Catabato, I was in the ground helping campaign for a candidate up in Central Luzon. Maybe it is different in your province. If you read my other post, I outline some of the different ways a candidate can win an election. But vote buying is a major problem, believe me, I know.

Boss Kadyo

@fatnj- I agree that vote buying is a problem in Philippines that cannot be eradicated in city or provincial level. Man, Gloria cheated in the election through the comelec and people aren't doing anything about it because they're tired or simply doesn't care anymore.
