WLAD_OWNS 11-14-2008, 08:58 PM Fedor Emelianenko is the greatest MMA fighter of all time!
jakkups 11-14-2008, 09:07 PM Fedor Emelianenko is the greatest MMA fighter of all time!
Agreed.
Randy is the Archie Moore of MMA.
WLAD_OWNS 11-14-2008, 09:13 PM Agreed.
Randy is the Archie Moore of MMA.
I think Couture is like the Bernard Hopkins of MMA. They're both very smart hall of fame fighters that seem to get better with age.
Couture/Sylvia = Hopkins/Pavlik
Pavlik and Sylvia were both heavy favorites and they ended up getting dominated by the more experienced old men.
jakkups 11-14-2008, 09:20 PM I disagree, Moore's career, attitude and reputation outside of the ring is similar to that of Randy, he was also a beloved fighter just like Randy whereas Hopkins is a former convict, a negative style fighter in the ring and an ******* outside of the ring that not many people give two monkeys about and dislike very much.
StillUnknown 11-14-2008, 09:27 PM he's not even the greatest HW of all time, let alone p4p great.
at heavyweight Fedor & Big Nog have to be ranked above him and you could argue a couple of other fighters as well

Haha true
Randy is the nicest guy you will ever meet....Hopkins on the other hand is a straight up *******.
But there are some similarities.... They're both well over 40 and are still elite p4p fighters.
Spare Moody 11-14-2008, 09:32 PM any suggestions"peeleft:
add Sakuraba
jakkups 11-14-2008, 09:37 PM Add Matt Hughes too, being the most dominant WW of all time gives him a shout.
evilp0ptart 11-14-2008, 09:48 PM fedor for greatest of all time for sure
PacBoxingsVids 11-14-2008, 09:53 PM Fedor has the best potential to be the Greatest, fight and beat the winner of Lesnar/Couture would be a good start.
evilp0ptart 11-14-2008, 10:38 PM Fedor has the best potential to be the Greatest, fight and beat the winner of Lesnar/Couture would be a good start.
Maybe that would affect Fedor's status in the eyes of the casual fan who doesn't know him too well, but experts would have Fedor as a HEAVY favorite in either fight.
Shiranui 11-15-2008, 08:48 AM I like it that you mentioned Ruas, who was the first truly rounded fighter (no, not Shamrock or Rutten), but Fedor is clearly the best ever as of now.
YUHHHHHHH! 11-15-2008, 10:40 AM Add Matt Hughes too, being the most dominant WW of all time gives him a shout.
:pat:
Hahahahahahaahahahhaahhahahahahahahahahahhahahahah ahahahahahahahaahahahahahaha
PS: Only the typical uneducated American fan wouldn't rule Fedor as the greatest of all time. He has revolutionized the sport, beaten every competitor he has come across and is complete in every aspect needed to compete in the sport.
Grats, Topic over.
PSS: I like Bernard Hopkins. If you think he's really an ******* outside of the ring (And still like Frank Mir, Wtf?), you're a fool.

Surprise surprise, of all the posts you choose to comment on you pick mine. Beginning to think you either love me or envy me. Sorry bud don't play that way.
Read my post before that, I stated Fedor is the greatest ever. I never said Hughes was the greatest. I said add him to the list of great fighters in the first post.
So you like a former convict who even in defeat cannot accept a loss like a man and whines like a baby? Your one of the few that do then. Comparing Mir to Hopkins is idiotic. Mir has never spent a day in his life in jail from what I know and acts ****y. If you really think that Mir is far worse than Hopkins, then you are a batch of eggs short of an omelette.
Uneducated, pfft please, a statement like that is typical of somene who hasn't the skills to successfully discuss a subject without reverting to potty mouthed statements and arrogant/elitist attitudes which you consistently do. Please Bricks stop clutching at straws in the hopes that you will gain a sense of victory for yourself it's really pathetic.

Wait, baby! I was drunk! Forgive me! :crying:
I worded that wrong, the uneducated American fan boy lot was directed at the Original Poster who never mentioned Fedor.
You and I don't see eye to eye on a lot of things, I can't stand Frank Mir and you can, it's like that on a lot of things. I'm not an elitist, I despise elitists and what I post on here is all fun and games. All is fair in love and war, my friend. I've never directed much hate towards you on these boards, only my personal opinions on fighters and fight scenarios. Which is just that, my personal opinion.
There was an old saying, something about a hot kitchen. I can't remember it in light of sounding like an "Elitist," though.

Woah flashback, I said those exact words last week to my girlfriend. . . unfortunately it didn't work.

Cool bro, I've been told misunderstanding people is my speciality lol.

NP, truth be told I am an argument picker and I love to argue. It's tough for me to be wrong because I am always right.
It's in my blood. :D

Ruas wasn't the first, Frank Shamrock was. Prior to Ruas entering the UFC Shamrock and Rutten had already made names for themselves in Pancrase for 2 years. Plus Shamrock's methods of crosstraining and conditioning training were so unique at the time that he could hang with any type of fighter whether it be boxer, kickboxer, wrestler, submission fighter etc. Ruas looked great and well rounded because he fought mostly crappy competition. His only decent fight on his record is a draw against Oleg Taktarov. When he fought Maurice Smith he looked average on both occasions and got stopped both times. Other than that he pretty much beat tomato cans.
