The game just came out yesterday in Japan and like any good fan i made my walk into the videogame store around the corner to pick it. Keep in mind i`m been playing this game just for few hours so i`ll try to explain the game the best i can as far as i know. Graphics: The graphics of this game are insane. Capcom really did a good job with the game. Every fighter look close to the real counter-parts. Detail such as Arona, Ninja and Ryan tattoos are very clear. Even Ryan scar in his back is clear and look in contrast with the rest of the body color. The moves look more real this time. In the first game it was really easy to just land one punch and pass guard. Well this time you really need to work to get the position. There are two new position in the game: Side mount and north-south position. Everytime you pass the guard you land in side mount. From there you either work for Submission, Knees or full mount. However if you waste too much time the computer place you right away inside the guard. Sound: Just like the old game. Pride atmosphere is there from the Elvis wanna be announcer, The american girl voice and the Japanese crowd. Most of the fighters comes in without their real songs. The only ones i found with their real music are Silva and Sakuraba. Controls: Exactly like the first Pride. I`m not really sure about combos yet but the game keep the basic buttom combinations from the old one. Gameplay: the game is divided in: Grand Prix, One match, One night tournament, Practice, Create a fighter, Profile, Option. The Grand Prix new feature is the pre-fight option. At first you play through 3 matches. If you win the three matches then you go into a 16 man elimination tournament. In the other side lost two or all matches give you a 8 man elimination tournament. However this time there is no continue so in case you lost the match there is no other option beside start again. One match is one vs. one, cpu, etc. One night tournament is 8 man elimination matches. Practice: same as the old one. Create a fighter: very close to the old one in my first check in the option side. There is a little bit more stuff to place when you create your fighter. This time there is Mohawk in hair style so this means there is a way to create Chuck Liddell. Random things i notice: 1. Fighters are very close to real counter-parts in the game. For example don`t expect Yoshida to be a striking machine but his grappling and takedowns are good. In the other side fighter like Mirko doesn`t bring any submission. When you`re over Crocop inside the guard he either hug you to death or kick you away. 2. In one night match the fighters go out with real entrance and walk. Remember the old one with the fighter right off the bat inside the ring? Well not this time. 3. There are options to pick Arena or Dome. 4. The corner mans look more real now. For example you pick Randleman and he goes out with Coleman. You pick Coleman and Kevin comes with him. Hamanaka and Sakuraba comes with Matsui, Igor with his wife, etc. However not all the fighter bring this in the game. 5. No blood. 6. Coolest move i ever see so far is Silva inside the guard. He punch you a couple of times, break the guard, stand up and walk beside you to apply kick / stomp in the face. Rampage takedowns are only painful slams like Rampage in real life. 7. There are three secret characthers to unlock in the game. I won the Grand Prix 16 man tournament to open "Saku Machine". This is Sakuraba fighting with the mask from the Royce fight. I don`t know who the other special characthers are but i`m pretty sure one is Takada so as long as i care he can stay lock. The cast of characters includes, as classified in the official site: 9 Strikers: - Rampage - Cro cop - Overeem - Wanderlei Silva - Anderson Silva - Goodridge - Schilt - Vovchanhyn - Ninja 15 Grapplers: - Sakuraba - Yoshida - Coleman - Takayama - Randleman - Arona - Hamanaka - Schembri - Rodrigo Gracie - Oyama - Ryan Gracie - Otsuka - Shoji - Newton - Matsui 5 All rounders: - Fedor - Nogueira - Herring - Henderson - Don Frye And Takada for a total of 30 fighters |
