Think about it.

Yoshi's fight game before the turney was an unknown. Still kinda is...

Silva/Yoshi was probably the best bet for this turney to be as good as it was. Silva, as we all know, is familiar with the gi. He knows the different chokes and what you can do with a gi. He has a SOLID purple belt in BJJ and can easily get ready for a gi player. Silva, by nature, was the most ready for this Judo gold medalist

Now what would have happen if Yoshi picked Liddel?

Im not sure how much Gi train Chuck has done. I know he JUST got his purple belt like 2 months ago. I never seen him MYSELF try to defend off a sub let alone a gi sub(if yoshi goes for a gi choke). Im pretty sure Yoshi would get him down, but could he get up? Would Yoshi keep him down? Well, Im pretty sure Chuck, win or lose, would be gassing. A gassin chuck vs Silva OR Rampage would get OWNED....but if Yoshi won, would you really be happy about that final? Who knows? I just dont think the turney would have been as good.

How about Rampage and Yoshi 1st round?

This is a bad match up for Rampage...He cant take down Yoshi unless its a FAST shoot. Yoshi would get throw, count on that. Rampage also keeps his head down alot(Silva knees and multiple people got guillotines). Yoshi would take advantage of that. Im also pretty sure that Jackson would be lost about the Gi. It brings a different element to the game. The fact that Yoshi has a monsterous chin, a GOOD ground, GREAT STRENGHT, and God like takedowns might land him the JD or a sub finish.

Also, Yoshi was the strongest guy in the turney. Silva said he was the stongest guy he ever fought(Silva fought Tito, CroCop, and Rampage), and Josh Barret said he was as strong as Sapp.

Might be the turney bracket was for the best...please tell me if you feel differently or agree.

Very interesting thoughts, and from the descriptions I agree. It's also good Yoshida was good enough to make it to a decision, if he was the tomato can everyone said he was and got destroyed in 3 minutes the tourney would have looked lobsided. Very even finals.

You make some interesting points, especialy about what would have happened if Yosh had faced Liddell or rampage, in fact, I bet he would have subbed either. That probably was the best possible brackets.

I agree 100% that it worked out perfectly. I'm also glad that Silva didn't KO him in the 1st round, as that would have provided the many Silva haters with more ammunition than the NRA.

Doesn't matter. Check out the UG. They're saying that Jackson got robbed by the stand up when Silva got his yellow card.
They'll always find something to ***** about.

Agreed. Silva was promoted to brown belt BTW.

Exactly, the way some people go on it's like they tied Jackson's hands behind his back then made them fight. He had the same oppurtunity to give it to Silva but they refuse to realize this. Silva was just better.
