Thought you might find one of my many intelligent conversations with my boss a little amusing.

(In column one you have the item name, and in column two you have the count of each item. There were five different items in this table. At the bottom of the table was the total count.)

Steph: “So that total at the bottom, that’s the total of all the items?”

Me: “Yeah.”

Steph: “Wow, I see. Now what happens if we change one of the numbers, the total doesn’t change does it?”

Me: “…yeah, if you change one of the counts, the total will be different. The total is the addition of all of the numbers in column two.”

Steph: “But that shouldn’t change the total right?”

Me: “No, it does change the total. If you would like me to change the numbers but keep the total the same I’ll do it, but the data will be inaccurate.”

Steph stares blankly at the screen for about two minutes. “Okay, keep up the good work, I’m going to lunch.”

Yea, this happens everyday with different things.

Well I've never washed my truck, and I got it over a year ago. I'd say if I had to guess, it's been about one year and three months since I've washed any car/truck. The only reason I did that was because I was selling my old truck so I washed it before I put it up for sale.

Me? Probably about a year and a half. I paid someone to do it about a month ago.

I clean so many cars at work I don't even want to think about cleaning mine.

I wouldn't put that chick in charge of a cash register, let alone a human being.

As for car washing, I was bad at washing mine in Australia. Out here I'm worse. I washed both about four weeks ago. The car is putrid again within 3 days because of the weather out here. That's just a natural demotivator. The good side to that however is the difference in grit between 3 days and 3 weeks is negligible (serious!).
