I really love hip hop but I'm super picky about what I like and I don't pay much attention to the **** I don't like. I am not into hardly any of the mainstream hip hop Floyd Sinclair 11-05-2008, 12:37 PM I'd probably give myself a 7....anyone who says 9 or 10 needs to get the **** outta here. punchDrUnK MONK 11-05-2008, 12:42 PM hip hop rap n freestyyle r my fav music by far. i use to rap myselff... but knowledge wise theres a lot to know.. and i dont know much.. so id say 6 - 6.5 but when it comes to how much u like hiip hop im a str8 10 *****s! SkilledB 11-05-2008, 01:02 PM 7-8 i know what im talkin about Floyd Sinclair 11-05-2008, 01:35 PM skilledboxer...you do seem to be one of the most knowledgeable dudes no here Think about all the different types of rap i know alotta commercial dudes dont **** with underground/old school, and the opposite is true To people who havent answered this yet, think about the entire history of rap The early years....79 to the mid 80's The golden era (some of you probably never heard this term before) you got west coast, east coast, the dirty south, chicago...and other regions It took me over 10 years to know everything i know and theres still a lot i dont know. Thats why i gave myself a 7... The people who know the most are the ones who **** with everything. People who will listen to camron and then rakim....rappers with completely different styles, like 50 cent, canibus, Murs, trag khadafi, MC eiht, krs one, del the funkee homosapien, Ti......yall get what im sayin? Alotta people dont **** with certain styles, limiting the amount of knowledge they can have fasman 11-05-2008, 01:50 PM im about 6 on my hip-hop knowledge.... Tuggers1986 11-05-2008, 06:51 PM About a 7........ Kelly Robinson 11-05-2008, 07:16 PM 3 out of 10 MetalVomit 11-05-2008, 08:20 PM I'd say about 7-8ish heat27 11-05-2008, 11:19 PM about 7 out of 10 Pico Hollywood 11-05-2008, 11:40 PM for me around 7 maybe a 7.5 anyone more on this site is ****ing lying... theres so many elements to hip-hop, not one person on this site would be above a 7 unless you have for example reasonable knowledge of dj's, breakdancers, graffiti etc.... Bendigo 11-06-2008, 12:34 AM A rock-solid 1. Versastyle 11-06-2008, 12:52 AM 4. No lie from me. Killa Cam 11-06-2008, 01:00 AM probly a 6. theres to much **** in the genre to factor in, i know alotta rappers, but thats aint all thats in hip-hop CRESCENDOPOWER 11-06-2008, 06:29 AM I don’t really comprehend how one can rate them selves on this. I’ll start in the middle, which is a 5, and give me one star for every decade I have listened to the rap genre. That equates to a 7.8 on a scale of ten. How this matters to probably the most subjective pastime possible is beyond me. Listen to what moves you emotionally, and care less what anyone else thinks. Tuggers1986 11-06-2008, 06:45 AM How many people on here have heard of Qbert DJ Shadow B-Boy Junior Nitrus Banksy I gurantee alot of people on here are actually rating their knowledge of RAP not HIP HOP, ignoring the other 3 main elements. Infact it wouldn't surprise me if quite a few posters didn't know what the elements are. black.ink 11-06-2008, 07:34 AM I'd say a 6.5, possibly 7. Don Gorgon 11-06-2008, 11:54 AM I'd say 6, I used to listen to almost anything that came out between 1993-1998 but before an after I'd say my knowledge is patchy. Some knowledgable peeps on here though. Truth 11-06-2008, 11:59 AM I'd probably give myself a 7....anyone who says 9 or 10 needs to get the **** outta here. I'd rate you an 8....maybe even 9. but me as a 7. Addition 11-06-2008, 12:11 PM Probably between 6 and 6.5. J Calzaghe 11-06-2008, 12:23 PM I'm in the negative numbers ROFLL I know, ice ice baby Quiet_Storm 11-06-2008, 12:53 PM 4-5. I don't **** with rap the way I used to when I was growing up and still new to the music. I had a thirst to soak up as much knowledge as possible and listen to as much as the genre had to offer, old or new. Nowadays, I'm not so easily impressed by what I hear, so I just stick to what I know already. This shift in attitude has probably caused me to miss out on a lot of great new music. I guess I've grown up to be quite cynical (when it comes to rap at least). SkilledB 11-06-2008, 12:54 PM skilledboxer...you do seem to be one of the most knowledgeable dudes no here Think about all the different types of rap i know alotta commercial dudes dont **** with underground/old school, and the opposite is true To people who havent answered this yet, think about the entire history of rap The early years....79 to the mid 80's The golden era (some of you probably never heard this term before) you got west coast, east coast, the dirty south, chicago...and other regions It took me over 10 years to know everything i know and theres still a lot i dont know. ABOSWORTH 11-06-2008, 04:25 PM I bet that was good!! The other 2 are break dancers and the bottom one is a graffiti artist. I guess that would explain why I hadn't heard of them. Yeah, that show was amazing.!! Q-Bert and the Executioners were off the hook! But for rap history i'd say 5-6, i know who did what and when, but i was born in the 80's, started listening to rap in the early 90's, so the stuff that came out in the 80's is kind of alien'ish to me. Never really bothered to check out everything, just got a few very old albums. fight_professor 11-11-2008, 08:01 PM 1.5. I've heard of lots of rappers, can ID a few, but never really got into rap music. Not much of a music person. Chr0nic 11-12-2008, 07:50 AM 8-9, no one is perfect Nick Fury 11-12-2008, 11:58 AM I'm prob. an 8. I could go at it with just about anyone in a hip hop discussion. I could definitely hold my own. |
