but knowledge wise theres a lot to know.. and i dont know much.. so id say 6 - 6.5

It took me over 10 years to know everything i know and theres still a lot i dont know. Thats why i gave myself a 7...

The people who know the most are the ones who **** with everything. People who will listen to camron and then rakim....rappers with completely different styles, like 50 cent, canibus, Murs, trag khadafi, MC eiht, krs one, del the funkee homosapien, Ti......yall get what im sayin?

Alotta people dont **** with certain styles, limiting the amount of knowledge they can have

theres so many elements to hip-hop, not one person on this site would be above a 7 unless you have for example reasonable knowledge of dj's, breakdancers, graffiti etc....

I don’t really comprehend how one can rate them selves on this. I’ll start in the middle, which is a 5, and give me one star for every decade I have listened to the rap genre. That equates to a 7.8 on a scale of ten. How this matters to probably the most subjective pastime possible is beyond me. Listen to what moves you emotionally, and care less what anyone else thinks.

I gurantee alot of people on here are actually rating their knowledge of RAP not HIP HOP, ignoring the other 3 main elements. Infact it wouldn't surprise me if quite a few posters didn't know what the elements are.

I'd say 6, I used to listen to almost anything that came out between 1993-1998 but before an after I'd say my knowledge is patchy.

I don't **** with rap the way I used to when I was growing up and still new to the music. I had a thirst to soak up as much knowledge as possible and listen to as much as the genre had to offer, old or new.

Nowadays, I'm not so easily impressed by what I hear, so I just stick to what I know already. This shift in attitude has probably caused me to miss out on a lot of great new music. I guess I've grown up to be quite cynical (when it comes to rap at least).

I've heard of Qbert and Shadow but not the others you mentioned. I actually saw Q-bert a few years back when he was touring for the scratch tour along with Jazzy J, Z-trip and the X-ecutioners.

7-8 for overall knowledge, i listen to stuff most people have never heard about, i'm always the one introducing new mc's and groups to friends.

But for rap history i'd say 5-6, i know who did what and when, but i was born in the 80's, started listening to rap in the early 90's, so the stuff that came out in the 80's is kind of alien'ish to me. Never really bothered to check out everything, just got a few very old albums.

1.5. I've heard of lots of rappers, can ID a few, but never really got into rap music. Not much of a music person.

8-9, no one is perfect

I'm prob. an 8. I could go at it with just about anyone in a hip hop discussion. I could definitely hold my own.
