View Full Version : The end may be near for Paulo Filho
Filho missed weight by 7 poumds (but officially came in at 189), while he may get the win over Sonnen, a move to 205 in the UFC isnt a smart move when ur only 5'8 and your in a stacked division
Mike Brown also missed weight the first time but came in at 145 the second time, and Maeda's opponent came in 2 pounds over
jakkups 11-04-2008, 10:44 PM What I like is that Filho's camp said they would walk over and hand Chael the belt if he wins lol!
YUHHHHHHH! 11-04-2008, 10:57 PM Filho is a natural 205lb fighter. His family was pissed that he dropped down to 185 to begin with. Filho will dominate most of the fighters at 205 in the UFC hands down. The dude's got heavy hands, and that's an understatement. It's clouded by his brilliant Jiu Jitsu, but the dude has BRICKS for hands. Believe me.
Palma 11-05-2008, 02:44 AM No discipline!
I am doubting the intensity of his workout leading up to this bout. he will gas in the first round and get worked!

Its not about working out correctly, losing weight is no joke. And when you get older, your metabolism slows so losing weight becomes even harder.
As far as him handling most in the 205, I dont kno I gotta see it to believe, its an unbelievably stacked division and i'm not so sure he can beat those dudes, I hope he can cuz im a fan but we will see

Filho in PRIDE FC showed that he could match top competition. Either way, he trains with Ricardo Arona and Anderson Silva, has an undefeated record against solid fighters AND is the reigning Middleweight Champion of The WEC. Those are some pretty heavy credentials.
we will see tonight how Ely does against Sonnen, I hope he breaks his arm off
Terrible, I guess the end came sooner then I thot
th4l3pr3ch4un 11-05-2008, 11:49 PM i literally dont want to see him fight ever again... That guy must have never showed up for training camp... because he certainly didnt show up for the fight.

He's a much better fighter then he showed, he actually is a world class fighter but man I guess he's still depressed, a terrible showing.
jakkups 11-06-2008, 12:18 AM Awful display by Filho. First he misses weight which is made even worse by the fact that he is the champion too, then he pulls a Kalib Starnes-esque performance and just avoided any and every opportunity to fight. If he turns up in the UFC like that, he won't last long.
That sad part is that if he was focused, he would have beaten Sonnan easily. Sonnan so stupidly allowed Filho to fight on his back in round one he literally almost got caught in an armbar that made Frank Mir not believe himself, and then he gets caught in a leg lock, Pride Filho or even early WEC Filho would have ended it, now, if he even makes it to UFC, he's got a whole division of guys who can cause him trouble if he make can even make 185. If he's stuck fighting at 205, he's through
