View Full Version : Chuck Liddell *Spoiler*
kcfman 11-10-2003, 07:04 PM I honestly thought that Chuck was going to win the GP. Even though he lost to Randy in the UFC, I really thought that Chuck would do damage in Pride. Now that he lost in Pride to Rampage, (who then went on to lose to Silva), where does Chuck go now and what did he do wrong or what can he do to improve? I thought he was almost complete fighter. Now I dont know.(I didnt see the fight and just read it from Nuno's thread)
mmafanman 11-10-2003, 07:08 PM Chuck ran into Rampage is what happened. Rampage just happens to be a better striker and he proved it. The fight was basically a K-1 match for the most part, with both guys throwing bombs. Rampage landed the cleaner shots and really ****ed Chuck up with the jab. When Rampage was able to take Chuck to the ground, he basically pummelled the **** out of him. I think at one point, I heard Chuck squealing a bit from those body shots. It was a pretty brutal and merciless ending.
Chuck has fought 2 top 5 guys and lost. I think he needs a break for a few months to gather himself and come back strong. I still think he's definitely got top 5 ability, just needs to really work on cardio and boxing defense. I've got mad respect because like Silva he'll fight whoever you put in front of him. He should rest up while Tito's hand heals up, and let's settle that dispute. I don't even like him as a fighter, but I've got nothing but respect for him.
Curly Howard 11-10-2003, 07:10 PM He goes on vacation, gets his head together and comes back.
Chucks still a great LHW but I think his problem is all mental. Lack of confednce and he's probably second guessing himself in the ring. Not trying to take anything away from Jackson. He scouted Liddell and did exactly what he needed to do against him. Look at where his hand are when he stood with him. He was defending against that looping punch of Chucks. Liddell just needs to back up and regroup

Yep. Great minds think alike.
realkaps 11-10-2003, 07:26 PM People are leaping off the Chuck bandwagon now, I mostly agree with what Curly said. I bet Tito was very happy with the outcome of the fight......
Fallout 11-10-2003, 07:53 PM The question is, how long can Liddel wait? He is on the dark side of 30 (32 I belive). Sure Randy is 40, but its differnet for wrestlers. Once you get over 30, your reflexes and speed really take a dive. Randy doesn't rely on thoses nearly as much as he does his strengh and technique. Do I think Chuck can come back? I guess he can. Do I think he is going to be world champion someday? I really doubt it

eat **** fat boy
Kempo Chris 11-10-2003, 11:09 PM Chuck needs to take a short vacation and then train for a good 9 months and get himself in the best shape he has ever been in. I don't think he looked in the best of shape for the fight

Sorry Ned
You know, now that Tito was given some humility by Randy. I think I might just root for him when he fights Lidell, someday. Just maybe........
