She got a note on her paper
"much improved B"
No note on any problems. What kind of teacher is that?? Shouldn't the teacher say, you need to work on this....that ....etc.?

Typically. Sometimes they will add their notes or reasons throughout the body of an essay.
If I were a teacher, I would summarise it as a whole (strengths & weaknesses) to justify the grade.
Then again, they maybe marking on a curve or somesuch ****.
A B is a respectable grade. I don't know what grades she's used to getting but it's nothing to sneeze at unless you are used to straight A's :)

I agree with you J, and B's are what she is used to. She's happy with the grade and so am I. I just think that they should give constructive criticism for the next essay. Otherwise, how can they improve if they don't know their problems??
But you are right, it is a very respectable grade and I'm proud of her. :)
