View Full Version : I think I'm done with UFC
TRAVI$ 11-02-2008, 02:48 PM There's not enough big names to keep me interested anymore
There's no real competition for UFC, so they can basically put on **** cards and are guaranteed buys
It's probably just me, though.
TRAVI$ 11-02-2008, 02:54 PM Quick, somebody give me reasons why I'm completely wrong and why UFC pwns.
Shadow boxer 3 11-02-2008, 02:56 PM i dont watch MMA but i hear alot of MMA fans say that the UFC has lost some of its appeal

People are gonna think I'm starting an anti-MMA thread here, but;
I have definitely noticed a decrease in UFC appeal here in the UK, for a few months people were obsessed by it.. now people I know, who used to watch any UFC card, whoever was fighting and would watch the ultimate fighter religiously, hardly mention it.
TRAVI$ 11-02-2008, 03:03 PM Maybe when a good UFC card is around the corner, people will get back into it.

The one advantage the UFC has over boxing is that most of the cards are stacked. Mostly top 20 in the world guys facing each other, sometimes you can anything upto 8 top ten ranked fighters on the same bill.
YUHHHHHHH! 11-02-2008, 06:13 PM http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UFC_92
Retard.
Aztec Wanker 11-02-2008, 06:24 PM mma undercards > boxing undercards
pay attention to UFC Lightweights they have the best fighters IMO. bj penn, kenny florian, clay guida, frankie edgar, tyson griffin, sean sherk and now i hear that eddie alvarez might join the mix. any combination of those guys is potentially FOTY

while I'll agree that some UFC cards this year haven't been up to par 84 and 87 I thought top to bottom were really well put together,
and what do you think about the upcoming UFC 91 and 92 events?

well that's because the UFC is a single promotion where they can match make all under the same banner who they want fighting who
where boxing is watered down with all the various television/PPV promoters and promoters.
neils7147933 11-02-2008, 06:34 PM Some big names have scheduled fights coming up. Silva/Cote wasn't expected to be competitive, and Bisping isn't a huge star, but some of those household names will be fighting soon...
Shadow boxer 3 11-02-2008, 06:45 PM maybe MMA is a fad after all

Yea I agree. It was tight for awile, But now it seems a little gay. Gsp, Silvia, Rampage, and forrest are okay I guess.
Savino 11-02-2008, 08:11 PM I'm from the UK and it seems to me it is getting bigger and bigger over here. the is alot more gyms opening up, alot more shows been put on over here. OK, some of the cards in the UK aint been strong but imo they have put on very good shows. In the next 5years I can only see the UFC/MMA getting much bigger here.
We want Floyd 11-02-2008, 08:34 PM Yea I agree. It was tight for awile, But now it seems a little gay. Gsp, Silvia, Rampage, and forrest are okay I guess. Are you kiddin' me. GSP, Forrest, Rampage are just okay. Bro I'd rather take those three over Hughes and Liddell any day of the week. I mean, lets face it Hughes and Liddell were the face of the UFC. But GSP right now is way better than any version of Hughes and we all know about Liddell's head to head matchups with Rampage!
Hell, you can even bring up Ortiz in his heyday. Ortiz barely escaped with a victory over an inexperienced Griffin.
What the UFC I think needs to do is be able to bring over those badasses from other countries. We, the North American fans are forced fed with these former college American wrestlers who get killed when they face jiu-jitsu masters or cats with solid stand-up.
Palma 11-03-2008, 01:50 AM Dude!!
The UFC is not MMA!
Who cares if you do not like the UFC, there are other shows out there like Dream, Affliction, etc for you to sample.
Kakutogi-Gumi 11-03-2008, 03:31 AM DREAM
Sengoku
JEWELS
Vulkarie
Shooto
DEEP
CAGE RAGE (until they get a better name)
Strikeforce
Art of War
Fatal Femmes Fighting
UWC
UFC Bushido....I mean WEC
Mozza 11-03-2008, 04:11 AM The next four UFC cards look excellent in my opinion and UFC 92 is on another planet.

well you can care on not but if the other shows don't stay in business it's beside the point
and fad or not, UFC is the biggest MMA promotion out there, I see what the TS means, the UFC brand is so out there that in his opinion at least, it's getting kinda dulled down so to speak.
but the upcoming events .. particularly this months + December's really look to be 2 of the better of this year.
and fad or not, that might actually be safe to say, as the UFC is still the most prominent MMA promotions.
I'll have to scrounge around for ways to see
DREAM
Sengoku
JEWELS
Vulkarie
Shooto
DEEP
youtube i guess.
TheGreatA 11-03-2008, 10:03 AM I have definitely lost interest as well.
While there are other promotions which I do follow, UFC seems to be the only one putting cards together consistently because the others struggle with money.
The last couple of UFC cards have been below average and the next one (91) doesn't promise to be much better although 92 does look solid on paper.
Penn vs GSP is the only fight I'm really looking forward to.
Napalm Death 11-03-2008, 11:47 AM The ufc 91 card is ****. im only botherd about the lesnar-couture fight.

Same here.
MJ406 11-03-2008, 07:59 PM Stevenson/Florian at 91 doesn't interest you guys at all?
then again both guys (Joe and Kenny) have respectively lost to Sherk and BJ .. the top two at 155
so what are the Stevenson/Florian winner's chances at beating either Sherk or Penn?
YUHHHHHHH! 11-03-2008, 09:30 PM Wanderlei Silva vs Quinton Jackson?
Yarmez 11-04-2008, 06:58 AM The UFC Is Still Good and got alot of good talent, Ever Since the Iceman Went Downhill alot of fans have gone off, but some guys are not getting there go and others are being pushed just to get PPV Buys it really annoys me, why a guy like Rashad Evans has to fight so long and so hard to finally get a title shot(even though i Can't Stand Evans) but he earnt it in my opinion after he beat bisping.
but brock lesnar comes in Loses To Frank Miir and beats Heath Herring and because of his WWE status Gets Randy Couture, Its bull****.
TheGreatA 11-04-2008, 10:18 AM Wanderlei Silva vs Quinton Jackson?
I've already seen the fight twice but I suppose it's an interesting match-up, Silva has gone downhill while Jackson seems to have improved somewhat (although he lost to Griffin).

They were both in their prime in PRIDE FC. Bring the same fighters that they've fought in the UFC recently back to the PRIDE ring a few years ago and they would have gotten wrecked even worse. Chuck Liddell vs Quinton Jackson I anyone? =D Everyone hits a bump in their career. Wanderlei will show up to fight. I think he takes this one once again.
them_apples 11-04-2008, 05:33 PM MMA is dieing, I've noticed to..to many nobodies. a lot of its highschool fanbase is dieing to.
MJ406 11-04-2008, 07:01 PM I'd really like Rampage to beat Silva once and for all ... or just once would be good
then again even if Rampage does get the W, that'd put the series at 2-1
but it's a moot point right now as Rampage still has to beat him.
can it be done?

I think that Wanderlei has his ticket. When Wanderlei doesn't like somebody the beast really comes out.
To quote him, "It would be a pleasure to fight with Quinton again because I do not like him."
He is one of the few people in the sport that truly love to fight.
MJ406 11-04-2008, 11:05 PM yeah it very well could be that Wand just has Rampages number

Agreed, although I still stream the main events sometimes.
P.S Dana White makes me want the UFC to fail.
