View Full Version : Kostya Tszyu Destroys Sharmba Mitchell
Rick Reeno 11-06-2004, 09:51 PM After years of waiting and very injuries by Tszyu, the fight finally happened tonight and BoxingScene drops the round by round descriptions that we have been known to do by the Boxing interent fans. Mike Tyson was interviewed prior to the start of the show and said that he wants to "come back and fight if the circumstances are right". Mike said that he was in the dressing room of Sharmba Mitchell and thinks that the two year layoff by Kostya Tszyu will have an effect on the fight. Tyson said that he is pulling for Sharmba to win this fight. There are no undercard fights on the televised telecast and we are going straight to the main event.
Jim Grey stated that after speaking to Sharmba Mitchell and Kostya Tszyu, he said that the fight appears to be much more important to Sharmba Mitchell, he feels that Kostya Tszyu is looking at Mitchell as just another fight. Tszyu said prior to the fight that his shoulder is 100% and Mitchell said that his leg is 100% as well.
Sharmba Mitchell is the first man to walk to the ring, Kostya Tszyu walks to the ring second and is followed by a Russian pop star. The same female pop star who followed him in a previous fight and is singing the same song "I'm going to knock you out tonight". The crowd is pretty weird tonight, it sounds like both guys are getting booed, or at least the boos are drowning out the cheers.

elveiel 11-07-2004, 11:02 AM :p
It was great watching Mitchell getting whipped, no excuse this time boy!!
Although he did say his leg was only 75%!!!
GxBrak 11-07-2004, 11:33 AM since when did we hate mitchell so much?
psychopath 11-07-2004, 08:20 PM Tzu is back ;) he did that with absolute vengeance . . . now who's next . . . he needs to beat one more named opponent before he can formally claim what he lost in that two years of absence . . . a great one for the sports. :D
INFAMOUZ 11-07-2004, 09:04 PM I was suprised to see Mitchell opt to stand and trade punches. He should have used more movement and attempt to keep Tszyu at a distance. One thing to Mitchell's credit is that he can take a good punch. Alot of fighters wouldn't have lasted as well.
I'll bet alot of you were suprised at lastnight outcome regardless of which fighter you favored. I figured Tszyu to win but not as quick and easily as he did.
INFAMOUZ 11-07-2004, 09:05 PM There are really only three fights out there for Kostya that would be really be predicted as possible "great" fights- Cotto, Harris, Hatton.
Cotto- He has the tools, but his chin is suspect.... at least relative to what we know about Zoo's power. If he can take take Zoo's punch, then this is where it gets interesting. Both are accurate punchers and they get there in a hurry. Would probably be a counter-punch slugfest.
Harris- Is proving to be a talented fighter. If he could KT away with the jab and survives confrontations few and far between(hopefully for him), I would say he has a chance. But if KT gets inside Vivian's reach consistently..... it's all over. His punches come too straight and will beat Vivian to the punch every time.
Hatton- This is(to me)the most intriguing match-up for Zoo. I think Hatton has a lot more pop than people give him credit, and it's not as evident because he commits to the body so much. He's also relentless and gets good hip movement in his puches, same as Kostya. Although I would say they both are stand-still fighters, Hatton does a lot of turkey-looks which and keeps his gloves high. Hattons chin hasn't been tested against a zoo puch, but Hatton is getting hit less and less in fights which tells me he is improving. I think this is the fight that should happen.
Gatti is my boy, but he's out of his league against Zoo. Gatti would start bleeding b-4 the first bell sounded and it would be over not long after. Mayweather is a younger version of Sharmba but with less pop and Zoo would come out on top. Am I missing anybody?

Good choices Bro . . . but I wouldn't want Cotto fighting Tszyu now . . . I like Cotto and he has a great future . . . he is still too young to face Tszyu at the moment . . . let him mature a little bit maybe 3 to four fights more and I'll bet he'll give Tszyu a run for his money. In fact I would love to see Hatton and Cotto mixed it up first.
