I haven't seen enough of Miguel Cotto to be a fair judge but Louis WAS the textbook on technique.

Eubank moved robotically? I don't recall that but it's been a few months since I watched one of my Eubank fights. I'll have to refresh my memory.

I don't think these two fighters have textbook technique, when I saw he used miguel cotto and joe louis as the example the only similarite between them is they move kind of robotic-like and throw short but noticble punches, if anything I feel cotto has simplified technique. while louis of course has better technique. when I hear textbook technique I think of people like Mike mccallum and Don curry

Floyd Mayweather Jr.

He lost because he was on back foot too much andd fought the wrong fight, not because of his actual punch techniques. They got him through the first 5-6 rounds quite well but i still would not say he is proper textbook. B-Hop is fairly textbook in terms of technique. Barrera was also another very mechanically sound boxer when he was reincarnated as a stand back guy from the Naz fight onwards.

ricardo lopez and arguello are good examples, and obviously some of you are getting technique confused with skill, "textbook technique" a.k.a "throwing the punches text book" and cotto lost to margarito because he wasnt as tough, at the highest level its the toughest man wins, cotto couldnt keep up with the pressure of margarito thats why he lost, in the first 6 rounds cotto was pretty much dominating.

yes, he moves rebotically, you shouldnt have to refer to your tapes, it should be fresh in your memory, euabnk was known for this, watch on youtube how his footwork is etc, good fighter tho.

dumbest comment ever. Joe calzaghe has never lost a fight, so does that mean he has "textbook technique".

by text book technique, i literally mean, throwing the punches perfectly as a textbook would say to throw it. so yeah, this may mean short "but noticable" punches. Mike Mccallum and Don Curry certainly didnt have better technique then either guys.
