Just so we dont have to keep it in the NRL thread.

Australia were pretty dominant against the Kiwis. Forward pack seems a bit lacking to me. Laffranchi and Stewart are solid players, but lacking in impact. I'd love to have Tallis or even Kennedy packing in the back row.

Hope the Papuans give the Kiwis a shake this week coming. Their lock, Rod Griffin, looks to be a quality player

Yeah, we just look a couple of classes above everyone else really. Man I am looking forward to having Locky and Israel in the Broncs backline next season.

Yeah unfortunately no Boyd but Yow Yeh looks the goods anyway. Injury free our backline should be on fire next season.

Great game between Tonga and Ireland last night. Get rid of the Aussies and it would be a pretty decent tournament.

I thought Stewart was pretty good on debut. Falou is a man mountain and probably hasn't finished growing yet. We sure will miss him at the Storm. Freakish strength and terrific under the highball in both attack and defence.
Australia v England should be a beauty this weekend.

Can anyone explain to me how the whole system works?

There are 10 teams.. in 3 pools.. the pool with 4 teams has 3 players go through.. what about the others? and who plays who?

Yea boy, Papua New Guinea got destroyed by the Lions man.. they can't handle us. We're just to damn good.

They were the favourites right?

Dude I have no fkn idea. It would have to be some kind of ridiculous system though.

Ah wait, I am guess that the teams in the pool with only 3 teams play one team from the other pool as well? Possibly?

Ah the result is pretty much a given, but you gotta do it. league is going to die if it doesn't get some international coverage.

PNG were ****ing good. The lock Rodney Griffin is a machine. Went to school with him.

I agree - League meeds a boost all over the world.
Perhaps the world cup can give it a bit of help.

Australia beat England 52 - 4. My favourtie try was the Slayter length of the field try.

I don't mind watching League (it isn't as good as proper Rugby by a long way though), but there isn't any point in a world cup.

It's popular in NSW, Queensland, Yorkshire, Lancashire and Auckland. Plus countries like PNG who have no chance at all (though I guess Australia are the only team with a realistic chance of winning).

At least in Rugby there are 5 serious contenders and a bunch of other decent countries.

I think the 2 teams are extremely close in ability and this one may go down to the wire. England by 2. :dunno:

On our day we are a good team but we just don't seem to be able to tick together. we have some brilliant players but dunno if they are team players. do you know the england players are getting played to play in the world cup? shocking.

England cannot put together consistent halves of football. That is their problem. It is a symptom of the fact that the English SL is a long way below the NRL in terms of its week to week standard.

I probaly have to agree with you pal.

I would love to see a change in RL and would be better if NZ, Fiji or England win the world cup.

When the England team get back home and analyze their tournament, I think they will see they have to do something with their defence. They leaked too many points all tournament. In the semi they seemed to panic whenever the kiwi's got near their line, especially when they went to the air.

We need to analyze our whole game in England never mind the national teams defence.

Congrats to NZ for winning the World Cup. It is what our International game needed. It is about time the Aussie's were stopped.

I have truely enjoyed this WC and cannot wait for the next one. Hopefully it will be held in Aus again and we can progress the game more by playing more internationals.

Well done to the Kiwi boys.
The were the more committed team and deserved the win.
For the tournament to be successful in future, other nations need to improve. As it stands only Australia, New Zealand and England have any chance what so ever.

England need 2 win one, but doubt that will happen for a while, Australia had never been tested so they were always kinda cruising on around 50% and they just couldnt kik up the effort agianst a side that was willing to give it everything

im interestd to see if this hybrid game idea works out lol could start a whole new code lol

England win a world cup? no. our game is a state, we have 3 and 4th rate aussies playing over here and our youngsters aint getting the chance to progress cos some old or average aussis is in his way. I remember saying if we want to improve the game in the UK we needed to get rid of all these crap aussies to give youngsters a chance no the is no relegation.

whats this about a hybrid game idea?

There are also some good Aussie players playing in English super league now as well. My team ( Melbourne Storm ) has lost Matt King and Clint Newton and now Mick Crocker is heading over for next season. God damn we are going to miss Crocker at Melbourne. i would love to have all 3 back.

the Hybrid game is an idea of having the 2 national teams play each other. Wallabies v Kangaroos. Don't know if it will happen.

Clint Newton had a decent season at Hull KR. Matt King was terrible for Warrington(Rivals) this season. My team Widnes Vikings was linked with crocker but we was robbed of a place in SL again. The are more terrible Aussies over here than the is good ones. Do you remember Aaron Moule? He played for Widnes after been retired for about 2seasons, to be fair when he was fit he looked a quality player.

In England, both League and Union sides have played against each other afew times. National teamsplaying against each other? I don't like that idea at all.

League will destroy the Union side at league and the Union players will destroy the league team at Union. It doesn't decided anything.
