Beats out Nas, TI, Kanye, and Jay-Z. Thoughts? This is from the BET awards.

"I'm not kinda of hot I'm sauna"

"I got game like EA"

"You know I work you out like Boflex"

"I'm richer than Nicole and I'm a Lion like her Daddy"

"And I beat it like a cop
Rodney King baby yeah I beat it like a cop
Ha Haaa... beat it like a cop
Rodney King baby said beat it like a cop"

Anyone who thinks that Weezy is a better lyricist than anyone on that list (and many more that aren't on it) doesn't know rap.

I'm not a Lil' Wayne fan..but he did it on Carter III...

any one sayin otherwise is on a hating bandwagon..that's all..cuz he made me a fan wit that album..his lyrics were FIRE!..I don't know about NaS' level Fire..but it's 2 different styles in which one is obviously is more popular now..

I'm not saying that he's a lyrical BEAST..but he is above most the **** out now and is consistent with it..that's the key to success...CONSISTENCY!..

Carter 2>>>Carter3. His lyrics were really average on his latest album. Some of his **** was just weak period. The album had some good songs but overall it was a step down.

I liked it, it all depends on taste and nowadays the taste is in Wayne's favor. You go on some hiphop sites and ppl would rip you up if you said Nas's album was better.

Fans or the rappers vote. They have the same opportunity to listen to Nas's album like everyone else. Its not like its locked up in a storage.

Verse, that specific catagory is for "being lyrical". Now, if you listen to nas' untitled, you know that lyrically it's simply superior to Carter III. Maybe you think Carter III is better than Untitled, which is fine, your opinion. But if you compare lyricism, it's FACTUAL that Nas' album is better than Wayne's. For **** sake, all you need to hear is the first track "Queens get the money", are you kidding me? That's the epitome of "being lyrical".

hiphop sites? lol versey hip-hop fans have to have atleast little knowledge of all the 4 elements of hip-hop to be considered credible... those sites are what you call mainstream nutthugging rap fans who have no knowledge of anything pre-tupac and big....

It wouldn't surprise me at all if 75% of the people who post in here could not name the 4 elements without looking it up.

I don't mind the Cool Kids or any other artist emulating the 80s, but Hip Hop should be moving forward, not backwards. The problem today is Artists are scared to be different because of critics, so the trend is to sound mainstream to sell, which is what i see wrong with the genre.
