View Full Version : Wanderlai Silva's last 10 fights
Tanner Rhoden 10-30-2003, 04:03 PM Dan Henderson - Arguably the best 185lbs fighter in the world. He gave Silva everything he could handle and lost a decision. Dan Henderson is the best fighter Silva has ever beaten.
Kazushi Sakuraba - Sweet!! He kicked Sakuraba's ass!!! Yeah, man!!! That's hardcore!!! Yet another 185lbs guy he beat. Congrats man!! You now rule a weight class below you!! Way to go!!
Shungo Oyama - Uhhhh, congrats? Good job?
Kazushi Sakuraba - Take two....when this rematch came around any MMA fan with any knowledge about the sport could already see that there was no way in hell that Sakuraba would ever be able to beat a guy like Wanderlai Silva.....especially since IT'S NOT IN HIS WEIGHT CLASS. Wanderlai won the rematch and no one seemed to care.
Alexander Otsuka - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH A HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA That is all.
Kiyoshi Tamura - Yeah, this guy's had some great fights. This ****ers whole career he fougth in an organization where they don't allow punches on the ground. NO PUNCHES ON THE GROUND!! Plus, coming into his fight against Silva he was coming off of three straight losses. Minotauro, Babalu and Ximu. Yeah, he really earned a **** at Wanderlai. No
Mirko Filipovic - Great fight. Most impressed I have ever been with Wanderlai. I have nothing to rip on him with when it comes to this fight. But, in the end.......the decision was a draw.
Tatsuya Iwasaki - Who the **** is this? Anyone?
Hiromitsu Kanehara - What did this little cherub ever do to get a shot at Wanderlai? Yeah, he had some impressive wins a few years ago.....who gives a **** though? Alex Steibling had two impressive wins a couple years ago and you don't hear anyone talking about him anymore....and he's not getting any title shots....that's for damn sure.
Kazushi Sakuraba - Ok......a third time? Jesus Christ. Like EVERYONE watching this fight didn't know what was going to happen. Why didn't they just give him a slot in the GP? He didn't even need to earn it with a third massacre of Sakuraba
And now.......my final ramble.....he's fighting god damn Yoshida in the opening round. Not Chuck.....Not Quinton.........Yoshida.....and unproven nothing that Wanderlai's gonna massacre to get into the GP finals fresh.
Yeah, this guy really does sound like the #1 fighter in the world to me.
Wushu 10-30-2003, 04:06 PM Dude, Oyama wears silver shirts...that's dope as ****.
You forgot to mention Dirty Bob, lol
Spencikiss 10-30-2003, 04:06 PM I can't wait for Nov. 9th, because Vanderlei is gonna have his nut sack handed to him on a silver platter. Recognize, *****.
Curly Howard 10-30-2003, 04:07 PM Don't hate the player..... Hate the game.

Thread only mentions last ten fights.
Oh, don't get me started. I could rip apart his entire career...fight for fight.......

GhosT^x0 10-30-2003, 04:09 PM Tanner has the best points ever. I'm pullin for the Americans to bring that ****in belt back home. This is the hardest I've ever laughed at any MMA related topic ever.
Thanks Tanner.

Well, in this case, the player has a fabricated game. One invented in the mind of nut huggers accross the web. In their feeble minds they associate Silva's agressiveness with being a good fighter.
So being the player doesn't have an actual game to hate, I chose to hate the player.

Deep thoughts by Spencer Del Prete
Mr. Beelzebub 10-30-2003, 04:20 PM IMO opinion Wandie has one of the best stand up games in MMA. He's very accurate and his basics are very solid, anybody can lose at any given moment in MMA. We are finally gonna see how he does against someone his own weight and a top contender in the finals.
Curly Howard 10-30-2003, 04:26 PM No because the Jackson/Liddell nut huggers will say he had an easy path to the finals. They just won't admit he's the best in the sport now. He started out rough but se's #1 now
handjobs4dollars 10-30-2003, 04:32 PM Rampage will beat silva. He going to take Sliva down and then silva is going to get lost in a great good old ground and pound schooling.
Tanner Rhoden 10-30-2003, 04:33 PM ****.....I guess there's nothing I can say.
Carl, what makes him #1? Just form a valid argument for that. If you come up with something reasonable...maybe I'll understand this point of view people have of him a little better.
This is the same **** that make's me hate Rickson so much now.
Curly Howard 10-30-2003, 04:35 PM I'm ****ing with you Tanner. I'm just bored and wanted someone to argue with. You need a girlfriend
Curly Howard 10-30-2003, 04:35 PM It's just so funny how you start throwing stats at everyone and start preaching about ****
Mr. Beelzebub 10-30-2003, 04:37 PM You can really have an accurate ranking in MMA in my opinion, Benji just got KTFO by a nobody because **** happens in MMA. I look at the fighters strenghts and weaknesses, and I think Silva is a well rounded and has solid skills.
Fury Dragon 10-30-2003, 04:39 PM Curly, why don't you offer some evidence instead of stating empty opinions.

That's what forums are for. Giving your opinon. How ****in boring would it be if everyone agreed on everything?
Randy Couture is the #1 LHW right now
Tito Liddell Jackson Silva #2
Mr. Beelzebub 10-30-2003, 04:44 PM Lay and pray
Curly Howard 10-30-2003, 04:45 PM Tanner's off trying to catch his breath. I should have said Sudo was the #1 lightweight
Fury Dragon 10-30-2003, 04:51 PM Yes, forums are about posting opinions. But if you're going to debate with somebody about something, and they offer evidence to support their side, you seem like a flaming ignoramous if you don't offer some sort of evidence to support your argument. Either that, or you just seem like you don't know what the hell you're talking about.
In this case, Tanner provided sound factual information to support the argument he was putting on the table. Evidence that is clearly difficult to argue since no one has done so successfully thus far. However, some are still trying to say that Silva is this *amazing* fighter...offer some evidence. Prove it.
Curly Howard 10-30-2003, 05:07 PM He's beat Kazushi Sakuraba (something Jackson couldn't do)
Dan Henderson Guy Mezger and fought Mirko Filipovic to a draw under special rules. His only losses are early in his career against Artur Mariano the fight was stopped from a cut. Vitor Belfort and Tito Ortiz via decision. He doesn't pick the guys he fights. The problem I have is that even when he wins the GP he still won't get any respect because he fought Yoshida. Now, I started this by ****ing with Tanner and I really don't believe Silva is the best LHW in the world. Randy Couture is the best right now. I am a big fan of Silva because of his style. I think G&P fights are boring. **** me for liking an exciting fighter.
Curly Howard 10-30-2003, 05:12 PM you can jump in any time Lightweight
lightweight 10-30-2003, 05:15 PM Argue and preach all you want about how some of Silva's opponents haven't been great, but if you fail to realize that he's still a great fighter you're opinion doesn't mean much to me.
Like Curly said, I don't consider him to be the best either, but I sure as hell consider him to be the most exciting in the division.

Baby Joe Mesi KOed Hasim Rahman in the Olympics. That doesn't mean he's a contender.
The simple fact is, as Tanner clearly supported in his initial post starting this thread, his last 10 fights have been ****.

GhosT^x0 10-30-2003, 05:58 PM That was Tanner.
Hey Lightweight, come on dude... I've gotta agree with Tanner to a degree here, and so do you. Rampage has completely ****in demolished everyone he's fought except Bustamante, and in the short time he's been in Pride, I'd say he's made way more of an impact than ****ing Silva has. Fact is, 3 out of Silva's last 7 fights have been gimmes, due to the fact that Dreamstage wants to turn his career into a ****ing comic strip. You have to give him credit where credit is due, and for fighting to a draw with Mirko (a draw, mind you), I find it hard to credit him for much else on the level of monument for the past 2 years. I think he's going to get the ****ing **** beat out of him by whoever advances to the final. I'm pullin for Iceman, but dude, if Quinton gets those slams off, you better believe Vanderlei is gonna feel em too.
That's all.
GhosT^x0 10-30-2003, 06:35 PM Yeah, and me arguing like a little ***** actually turned this forum into something interesting for now.
- Tanner
Curly Howard 10-30-2003, 06:46 PM Yeah you're cool.
lightweight 10-30-2003, 06:58 PM I don't really want to argue, but I'll say a few things.
1.Rampage has fought more cans then Silva spanning their careers.
2.He has 3 good wins in his last 10 fights....so what's the point of making him sound like a god compared to Silva? He lost to Sakuraba, dq against Matsui, beat Otsuka, Ishikawa, Satake, Gray, Vov(good), Randleman(good), Illoukhine, split decision over Busta.
3.3 out of Rampage's last 7 fights were gimme's.
DOGGx0 10-30-2003, 07:37 PM tanner = correct. that is all.

- Tanner
mmafanman 10-30-2003, 08:06 PM A win over either Liddell or Rampage will end this debate. A loss to Yoshida should put Silva behind Couture, Liddell, Tito and Belfort in the rankings.
The Ensanity 10-30-2003, 08:11 PM If he loses in the GP at all he will fall hard in the rankings
Squezze 10-30-2003, 08:25 PM Just a hunch, but the winner of the Chuck/Rampage fight probably won't be able to continue. These guys are most likely gonna have a war. My prediction is Silva vs Henderson or Bustamante in the finals.

Fallout 11-01-2003, 12:16 PM You want to make a thread go several pages in the MMA forum, talk about Silva.
Love 'em or hate 'em, its going 3 pages
lightweight 11-01-2003, 12:20 PM Well, I'm guessing you posted his win over Couture so that you could argue him as another good win for Rampage. But, Tamura beat him, so Tamura should be considered a good win for Silva, more so then Illoukhine for Rampage, right?
Why, why not, or were you just posting stuff for arguement.
realkaps 11-01-2003, 12:20 PM Usually those three pages are filled with me and Lightweight.....

Love him or hate him, there's not many other people I'd rather see fight.
Tanner Rhoden 11-01-2003, 02:36 PM I used to really enjoy watching him fight. Odds are he;s going to win his fights with a KO/TKO. But, watching him fight all these bums all the time just got boring as hell to me. The element of suprise was gone. It was like watching him fight the same guy over and over again.

Kempo Chris 11-02-2003, 01:43 PM I like Silva - His standup game is solid, but I Pride is protecting him, because he is exciting to watch, he gets the KO's, he is intense. He sparks fan interest, he gets people to watch.
Piedra 11-02-2003, 10:23 PM DSE sets the fights for Wanderlei not the Chute Box Team, so if a lot of people argues that he is going to enter his second fight fresher, you have to keep in mind that he is the champion and he deserves a punching bag like Yoshida. Anyway in a single fight he could finish without any problem(just in my opinion Quinton or Lidell).
Tanner Rhoden 11-03-2003, 08:26 PM How do you figure he deserves a "punching bag"?
HockeyFighter 11-03-2003, 08:59 PM I here everyone *****ing about how Wandy gets to fight Yoshida and how it is unfair. **** that. Someone has to fight Yoshida so no matter who fights him it is going to be unfair. Wandy is the champ therefore gets the #1 rank. Liddell and Quinton are 2 and 3 with Yoshida being #4. So logical tournament order puts 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3.
Tanner Rhoden 11-03-2003, 09:17 PM Yeah, but calling someone a "punching bag" proves that he's fighting a can.
Guess it doesn;t matter anymore though. Silva beats Yoshida......he's still gotta fight either Chuck or Quinton.

I'm glad this guy usually espews his MMA knowledge at Sherdog. Just reading his few posts here has made me dumber.
KimuraMan 11-11-2003, 10:34 PM Yoshida didnt look to much like a punching bag to me, and every fighter in every combat sport does eventually fight someone who is not at there level. I mean every fight cant be against randy courture. Pride needs to get some kind of ranking system to see who gets the title shots, then there wont be a question about the legitimacy of the champs opposition.
lightweight 11-11-2003, 10:59 PM How long ago did this become a must read topic?
This makes me smile.
