I would have to say Jones has to clean up the Tarver mess (if he can) before he even thinks about Vitali.

after tarver why not go for it all? there would be no pressure on jones to win because vitali would be a heavy favoriite

Roy has unfinished business with Tarver, and I think he should be more concerned with that fight. If I were Roy I would be commited to proving that 2nd round knockout was just a fluke, and not concerned with the Heavyweights, for the time being.

Vitali is too big and skilled for RJJ. Roy better settle his 1-1 record with Tarver first.

I do not think Tarver could beat Vitali. So, if Tarver cannot beat Vitali, then Roy Jones cannot not beat Vitali either. I think Vitali is too big and strong, and Roy Jones could not keep himself from being hit with a strong punch the entire fight.

Yeah yeah yeah...Tarver's had his day in the sun. It will all be over before too much longer. Same goes for Hopkins. Vitali wouldn't be able to land a shot on Roy. I think an 8 inch difference in height and a 60 pound difference in weight is worth that much especially since Roy is a natural middleweight. What's funny is all you haters are hoping and praying that match isn't made because you know he probably would win and you'd have to hear about it until the day you die. Roy is the best fighter of this generation. Funny how you self proclaimed experts won't admit it.

Vitali is way to slow, and has limited skill, Roy beats him on points with a landslide victory........

Roy Jones is great and one of my favorite fighters. This isn't the first time he spoke about fighting Klitschko. He was talking about fighting Lennox Lewis as well. Jones is talking and none of these fights will happen. Tarver's reach and power gave Jones trouble. Vitali is much taller and stronger than Tarver and would blow Jones away. Jones couldn't potshot Vitali all night. Vitali throws alot of punches and Jones is going to run into something eventually if he keeps jumping in and out. I would rather see Jones beat Hopkins again.

i think it would be very foolish of roy ..why da hell would he come back down to go back up.. he should of went straight back up after the tarver loss if he dont intend fighting tarver..i think he should of stayed at heavy weight period..cuz tarver wasnt **** before roy jones.. roy could of been real special but he messed up ..i guess i got ta wait to see if he can fix it

I think Roy has a avery good chance against Vitali because of speed. He would be in and out and VK wouldnt evene see it.

I would think less people are buying his act anymore.

Days after being humiliated by a guy who outfought and out-performed him pre-fight, he was ready to get back in the ring.

With a guy not recognized as the champ for a title belt.

Roy is interested in the greatest rewards mixed with the least risk.

He's not a true champion, because he isn't willing to fight the big names. That puts him below guys like Mosley or De La Hoya who are actually willing to do that - and put their belts on the line against REAL opponents.

Remember, he dumped the belt instead of fighting Tarver, and only went back to light heavy when he had won a heavyweight belt against a pitiful champ - then he didn't want to play with the heavyweights anymore. Then when it turned out that Tarver could (and probably did) beat him, he reluctantly took a rematch and blamed it on the fans.

Then he got beat and blamed it on motivation.

Then he said if he ever fought again it would be against a heavyweight. He said he couldn't "get up" to fight light heavys.

So he scheduled a light heavy that held a belt but was in no way as good as Tarver - a guy that Hopkins has already KO'd.

I'm not buying it anymore, Roy. Tonight after winning 9 or 10 rounds, there will be all kinds of posts about how great you are. But I'm not buying it anymore. Champions don't hide from real competition.

Quit talking about Hopkins. Tyson. Holyfield. Both Klitschkos. Then go fight Fabrice Tiozzo or whoever the hell holds a different minor light heavyweight belt and go record another crappy rap song.

the belt is what he needs...the belt mean he will have say in the money cuz..then it turn into a unification match..and that averges money more ..probably if tarver has his way..he will still get more money..but atleast jones wont get totally ripped remember boxing is 50percent fighting..50percent money...so thats why get me..now tarver wont be able to call all the shots

Tarver couldn't call the shots anyway. Look how much DLH made compared to Hopkins. Tarver couldn't even get paid vs. Calzaghe so now he has to fight mandatory Briggs.

I understand the "boxing is money" thing - but Roy has WAY more than he needs - why use money to duck the big fights when they come up?

Mosley could have made more to fight DLH a third time but went ahead and fought Winky for less. And lost. But how many guys had ducked Winky? Mosley is a champ, even though he doesn't have a belt, for acting like one.

Winky's a champ for granting a rematch right away too instead of testing the waters and seeing how much he could make with another opponent.
