All i will say is a prime Charles would have beaten a prime Marciano. Look at the Charles that fought him twice, shadow of his former self yet came close to beating Rocky twice.

I don't think Charles was ever the same after the Walcott left hook.
He put on a game performance against Marciano though and the Satterfield KO was perfect. That's what got him the shot at Rocky.

The major change in Charles career was the death of Sam Baroudi which was due to injuries after their fight. It's arguable that Charles lacked his killer instinct and took a more cautious approach in the ring. This was notable in the second Marciano fight when Charles split Rocky's nose and took a backwards step in fear of a Baroudi repeat. Not facts, but watching his fights after the Baroudi fight and you can see a change in style.
